When? Every Sunday to Thursday from 7pm.

You need to eat a huuuuuge 5lb loaded burrito in one go.  It included 3 tortilla, 3 Mexican meats (chicken tinga, carnitas and ancho chile beef)), rice, beans, pico de gallo, lettuce and cheese, 3 salsas and sour cream, AND nachos – all for £25. There are 5 rules – don’t vomit, you can substitue the meats for veggie or vegan options but not the salsas, no sharing, timers begin from the first bite and food must be consumed before closing, and you can have a toilet break (but don’t be sick when you take one). What do you win? A ‘I put it away’ t-shirt and your name on the El Criminal Roll of Honour.

2. Fallout Challenge

Not only is the burger big but it’s spicy too. For this hardcore eating challenge in Bristol, you have 45 minutes to eat the burger which is filled with three beef, chicken or veggie patties, triple American cheese, three onion rings, three lots of Fallout sauce — which is said to be pretty spicy — and three lots of their chilli fries.

3. The Ultimate Burger Challenge

This giant burger which has been going since 2013 is not for the faint-hearted — or under 18s for that matter. The big ass bun is filled with three hamburgers, two chicken breasts, two bean burgers, pineapple, mushroom, two types of cheese, tomato, lettuce, gherkins and guacamole all squeezed between two giant buns with chips and coleslaw. The whole lot must be eaten in 45 minutes for you to win. The food challenge is so hardcore, you can only face it a maximum of three times in six months.

4. Boozy Cow Burger Challenge

Another UK food challenge, another burger to conquer. The Boozy Cow challenges you to eat a 3x60z burger with bacon, Emmental cheese, 2 halloumi strips, onilons, tomatoes, lettuce and JD glaze, plus a milkshake (or non-alcoholic alternative). There appears to be no time limit specified but that’s probably the least of your issues. You need to finish all the food and drink all the shake. Good luck!

Think you could finish a burrito that size in 10 minutes? If you do it here you will get your food for free. You’ll get food at half price every time you eat there for as long as you’re top of the leaderboard. This means you have to break the food challenge record to begin with, which isn’t easy.

6. 27 Inch Pizza

90 minutes seems like a long time to finish a pizza, not when it’s 27 inches though. Luckily, you don’t have. to put any extra toppings on so it can be just a cheese and tomato pizza to make it slightly more manageable. If you do manage to gobble it all down in the allotted time you get the pizza for free and your name on their wall of fame.

You’ve got just 12 minutes to finish this fun-packed fry-up to get it for free and you’ll be able to boast to your friends that you’ve completed one of the most hardcore eating challenges in the UK.

8. Mega Monster Breakfast Challenge

Where? Popina’s, 31 Brudenell Road, LS6 1 HA.

One of Leeds’ most popular food challenges, probably because it is the most difficult. Finish this whopper of a fry-up and you will earn respect from everyone in the city as well as your name on their wall of fame. This is one of the hardest eating challenges in the UK, including 6 bacon slices, 6 sausages, 4 black puddings, 4 hashbrowns, 6 eggs, mushrooms, beans, chips, tomatoes and 3 rounds of toast. Save the rest of the day to get over this one! It costs £11.99 to take part and if you manage it you’ll get it back.

9. The Quadruple Bypass

For this hardcore eating challenge in Liverpool, you have to eat two beef patties with toppings, 4 pieces of fried chicken, a bucket of coleslaw, 4 onion rings, 2 thinck slices of goats cheese, 1 whole block of cheddar, and a huge basked of fries. In just 20 minutes. Win and the food is free. Lose and you’ll have sacrificed a weeks worth of calories in one sitting.

From their 1.5kg ice cream ‘Banana Split Belly Splitter’ challenge to their 3.5kg burger ‘Big Ol’ Belly Buster’ challenge, pay Man vs Food a visit if you think you can handle some of the most hardcore eating challenges in the UK. The Belly Buster Burger challenge includes a 7lb burger (or chicken or veggie) with the usual toppings (but a lot of them), cheese (also a lot of it), and a thick bread to be eaten in 40 minutes. This food challenge in London probably has one of the best prizes; a free meal, t-shirt and £250 cash.

Slattery’s offer one of the best food challenges in Manchester UK by  making you down a large portion of warm chocolate fudge cake, chocolate ice cream, fresh cream, 2 chocolate pots and chocolate sauce, AND a hot chocolate. The reward: more chocolate, and a medal.

14. French Toast Challenge

Another sweet food challenge in Manchester to enjoy – Northerners are all about the sugar clearly! Just outside of the city in Oldham is this French Toast challenge, which includes 3.5kilos of French Toast (2 hefty layers), with a range of delicious toppings. If you finish in 30 mins, you’ll get the money back plus a goodie bag.

A huge 24oz amount of beef and chicken patties, and a vegan patty because you know, and four cheese, and chilli cheese fries, and coleslaw and a drink. All to be had in half an hour.
