Alpacas are beautiful mammals from South America, which are known for their long necks and soft fleece like wool. In fact, they are so popular there are now dozens of alpaca farms across the UK where you can go and visit them, and in some places even trek with them. Here are just some of the alpaca farms across the UK, so you will be sure to find a farm near you.
1. Lucky Tails Alpaca Farm
Atherstone, Warwickshire
At Lucky Tails Alpaca Farm you won’t just get to meet their alpacas, you will also get to listen to a talk about alpacas in the barn shop, and maybe even take them for a walk before meeting all the animals. Which include rabbits, chickens, and goats. However the farm is only open at the weekends, so make sure to plan your trip in advance.
2. The Alpaca Centre
Newark on Trent, Nottinghamshire
If you are looking for a fantastic day out then look no further as The Alpaca Centre has it all. Not only can you meet their alpacas and walk on their trails you can also book to feed them! Plus afterwards you can enjoy a delicious meal in their coffee shop or even have a cheeky piece of cake. As there is so much to do, the centre recommends you spending at least 2 hours there.
3. Alpaca Park Farm
Snarestone, Leicestershire
If you love animals you will definitely appreciate a trip to the Alpaca Park Farm, where there are not only alpacas but also Pygmy and Angora goats, donkeys, pigs, and chickens. They are open everyday of the week from 9 until 5 except on Mondays. There is also a restaurant and wool shop with it’s own knitting club.
4. Middle England Farm Alpacas
Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire
At Middle England Farm you can go on one of their alpaca walking experiences through the Warwickshire countryside. There are plenty of activities at the farm for everyone, including office or school visits, care homes, or people with additional needs. The farm also sell alpaca themed gifts as well as alpaca poo fertiliser. They also offer goat experiences, where you can take them for a stroll and learn more about them.
5. White Peak Alpaca Farm
Mobberley, Cheshire
The White Peak Alpaca Farm breed alpacas, but also have goats, ponies and wallabies for you to see, as well as owls, geese and pheasants. The farm is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm, and admission is only £5. They also sell bags of Alpaca fleece and felt sheets, perfect for anyone who enjoys crafting.
6. Holly Hagg Community Farm
Sheffield, Yorkshire
At Holly Hagg Community Farm there are alpacas and llamas, who you can walk through the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. Each trek lasts an hour, and there are plenty of photo opportunities. You will also be shown how to handle and feed the alpacas and given a safety briefing before the trek begins.
