If you’re a skint student in Nottingham, you’ve come to the right place. Not only have we discovered the best places to get boozed on the cheap, but now you can eat for less than a tenner too. Here are 9 student eats for under £10:

1. Go grab a galette

Try a plain cheese crepe for less than a fiver or go crazy and add toppings like chorizo, caramelised, onion, mushroom — the works! There are also sweet crepes on the menu for the basic bitches out there.

2. Bag a bagel

These guys do bagels on steroids. Pack one with salt beef, American cheese and pickles for just £3.50, or if you’re feeling fancy try the brie, bacon and cranberry sauce for £4.50. Either way, order it takeaway so you get that bad boy cheaper.

3. Try a thali

How much: £8.95

The lunchtime meal deal at Tamatanga is tantalising. Choose a soft drink or juice with a thal or claypot dish for just £8.95. Just don’t accidentally order the extras and be slapped with a fiver more than you were expecting at the end. Read the rules properly.

4. Bury your face in a burger

Nothing beats Annie’s burgers, which is why they cost close to (and some over) £10. HOWEVER. If you visit between 12-5pm Monday to Friday and bring your student card with you, you’ll get 10 per cent off. BOOM, under a tenner. Unless you order the crab burger… can’t help you there mate.

5. Fuel up with a fry up


What: The ‘Bad Ass’ breakfast

If you’re feeling seedy and maybe even shame spiralling for the previous night antics, a fry up from Warsaw will fix you right up. The badass brekkie has everything you need: 2 x Pancakes, 2 x Bacon, 2 x Sausage, 2 Eggs any style, Hash Browns, Mushrooms, OJ and bottomless coffee. We repeat, BOTTOMLESS COFFEE. You’ll be better before you know it.

6. Collect a kebab

How much: Mains range from £5.20-£10

Take your pick of lamb, chicken or kofte kebabs, all served with salad/veg and rice to fill that giant starving hole you call a stomach. Or if you’re hungover and just want all the carbs and grease, try a meat and chips combo.

7. Pick up a pizza


What: Pizza lunchtime meal deal
Where: Pizza Inferno — 37 Milton Street, Nottingham, NG1 3EN
How much: £4.95

Between 12-5pm on Monday to Thursday, you can pick up ‘The Infernor’ plus a refill soda for £4.95. WTF is ‘The Infernor’ you ask? Well, it’s a pizza that is less than 500 calories, which narrows it down to three options: Molten Meaty, Spicy Pepperoni and Veg Out Pesto. All of which sound pretty tasty TBH.

8. Snag a sandwich


What: Gourmet deli sandwich
Where: Delilah Fine Foods — 12 Victoria Street Nottingham NG1 2EX
How much: £4.96-£6.95

Delilah’s deli sandwiches are downright delightful with flavoursome and far from boring fillings. The haloumi with roasted vegetables, harrissa yoghurt and rocket is a winner for vegetarians, or if you’re feeling French, go the croque monsieur. They also have gluten-free bread for those wondering.

9. Treat yourself to Thai

What: Main thai dish with rice
Where: Tarn Thai – 9 George St, Nottingham NG1 3BH
How much: £7.50

At lunch (12-3pm), Tarn Thai have an express special which allows you to pick one main dish with a choice of steamed or egg rice for only £7.50. The mains include all your favourite thai classics like green, massaman and panaeng curry. Perfect for a freezing cold winter’s day.
