Drag icon Joe Black appeared on the latest season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, where she was the first to be eliminated, and then the first to return! Upon her second elimination, Joe Black caused a ruckus on set after revealing to the judges that her dress was in fact from H&M.
What happened on the show?
Lead judge and show namesake, RuPaul Charles, lost it a little. Fans were appalled on Twitter at the response after RuPaul shouted: “That’s what everyday people do, and you should know that because you are a star. This goes to all of you up here: if it is from H&M, then you better glitter the f**k out of it and make it something special. We’re looking for Great Britain’s Next Superstar, don’t waste my time. I don’t want to see any f**king H&M!”
Following the outburst, Ru apologised to the Queens, and blamed jet lag and COVID quarantining for her anger. Joe, nonetheless, was eliminated that week. However, shortly afterwards, H&M extended an olive branch!

And another one!
My advice to any massive goths who were absolutely gutted on missing out on the vampires wife x @hm collection. Make someone really angry on tv and it will work itself out. Thank you @hmunitedkingdom this has made my day/year/life pic.twitter.com/zNT1d1J9wx

We are super jealous of the freebies, but it is more than clear that Joe deserves them, especially with the latest news.
On March 26th, Joe announced that, together with Sussex Beacon, he’d be raffling off the dress. Tickets for the raffle are £2.50, and there are 1,000,000 tickets, according to Pink News.
The raffle shuts on the 1st of June at 6 pm, or beforehand if all the tickets sell out. When announcing the raffle, Joe Black said:
“I am so happy that the most dramatic and infamous fashion choice on television this year can be turned into something that can genuinely impact and help people. So it is my absolute pleasure to be handing this over to the Sussex Beacon and hopefully, together we can help raise a lot of money for a charity doing such fantastic work. Fashion changes lives but only if a television host is really, really angry about it.”
Do you love raffles? Do you love helping charity? Do you love fashion that can evoke emotion in television hosts?
