Wollaton Hall and Deer Park
Wollaton Road, Nottingham.
This Grade 1 listed building is surrounded by 500 acres of land, which is roamed by over 200 deer and other wild animals. The hall was built in 1588 and is absolutely stunning, and you can explore the grounds by walking on one of the many trails. It’s only a short distance from the city, and you can get there by bike, car, or public transport. The park is also a regular location of many events, including sports events and festivals.
National Water Sports Centre
Adbolton Lane, Nottingham.
Holme Pierrepont Country park is a great place to visit when in Nottinghamshire, as there’s always something to do. There are regular races around the lake, as well as in the lake. You can come to learn how to Kayak, Canoe or Paddleboard with their dozens of taster sessions.
Sherwood Forest
Sherwood Forest, Nottingham.
This royal forest is somewhere all visitors must go when in Nottinghamshire, as it is associated with the legend of Robin Hood, who is rumoured to have had his hideaway in the forest’s major oak. The forest is located near the village of Edwinstowe, which is also where Thoresby Hall is.
Attenborough Nature Reserve
Attenborough, Nottinghamshire.
This beautiful reserve is less than 5 miles from Nottingham and is managed by the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. Their goal is to maintain Nottingham’s wildlife and look after habitats. The reserve also has a café, shop, and plenty of activities you can take part in.
Trent Bridge
West Bridgford, Nottingham.
This Cricket Ground is a huge part of Nottinghamshire and is on the outskirts of the city itself in the town of West Bridgford. You can go on one of their stadium tours for just £4, and you’ll get to see the grounds, see inside the famous pavilion and learn of its history.
Newark Castle
Newark on Trent, Nottinghamshire.
This castle is the heart of the Nottinghamshire market town of Newark on Trent, which is also home to the National Civil War Centre. The castle was partially destroyed during the civil war in 1646, but it still stands strong, looking across the River Trent. Guided tours are also available each week and cost £5 per adult.
Clumber Park

This museum is full of exhibitions and galleries and is definitely worth the trip. You can also see vintage tractors, tools used by rural craftsmen, as well as a farm kitchen. They also have a variety of family activities throughout the year.
Kelham Hall
Kelham, Nottinghamshire.
This hall was a stately Victorian home near the River Trent, but most recently it is used for weddings, big functions, and sometimes escape rooms. The hall also has 42 acres of parkland, where you can walk, have picnics and camp. Every summer they also grow a maze, and occasionally have themed mazes such as a zombie apocalypse.
The Well House
The Square, Gotham.
This historical landmark is in the centre of Gotham, a small village in Nottinghamshire. The Well House is a grade 2 listed building, and a beautiful part of the community. This village also inspired the batman writers.
