A great, well-rounded academic experience that you’d expect from a university with the prestige that Oxford has. 

3. UCL

According to the Complete University Guide’s categories, it receives a 91% overall rating, just 1% lower than Oxford. That’s pretty impressive, considering how Oxbridge usually dominates rankings. In terms of the individual categories, it gets an 84% rating for entry standards, 80% for student satisfaction, 86% for research quality and 84% for graduate prospects. UCL is definitely a Russell Group uni for a reason. 

4. Imperial College London

Another London university that’s part of the Russell Group unis, Imperial College London is ranked as the fourth best uni for biology in the UK according to The Complete University Guide’s categories. It also has an outstanding overall rating of 90%, with a score of 78% for entry standards, 79% for student satisfaction and 87% for both research quality and graduate prospects. Looking at the university as a whole, Imperial College London has a large international population, with a majority of students coming from outside the UK. If you apply here, you’d likely meet people from all over the planet. 

5. Durham University

Rounding out the top five of the best universities for biology in the UK is Durham. It has an impressive 90% overall rating, composed of 83% for entry standards, 81% for student satisfaction, 79% for research quality and 84% for graduate prospects. Another very well-rounded academic experience from one of the country’s best and most highly regarded unis. Durham University also makes the list of the best universities for reputation, so if you end up changing your course, you’re still in a good place.

6. University of York
