You might recognize this name from the odd  Instagram story. Indeed, Hope works can be a  different club compared to other clubs in the city centre, located further afield Hope Works is a paradise for anyone enjoying raves and underground electronic music. In fact, Hope works is a must for anyone wanting to experience a more underground side of Sheffield particularly when it comes to techno ad house. Events hosted at Hope works include Pretty Pretty Good and Blue Wave.

9. The Viper Rooms

35 Carver Street, S1 4FS

Open on Tuesday from 10:30 pm to 3 am, Friday from 10 pm to 4 am, Saturday 8 pm to 4 am and Sunday from 10 pm to 3 am.

Another award-winning club. Located just off the frenzy of West Street, this is another venue that deserves a full exploration. The Viper Rooms offers some of the most iconic and diverse nights out notably Sunday sinner, an extra unforgettable night to spice up your weekend, even better if on Monday the earliest lecture you have is at 2 pm. Furthermore, the drinks are very cheap, we are looking at £3 for a cocktail, which of course ain’t bad at all, and the icing on the cake remains that unlike similar club nights across Sheffield, the entry is free. So if your budget is tight forget the Leadmill and Tiger Works, and have your weekend sesh at the Viper Rooms.

8. Onyx

Rockingham Street, S1 4EA

Open on a Thursday from 6:30 pm to 4:30 am, on Friday and Sunday is open from 10 pm to 4:30 am

Living in the shadows of Code and West Street live Onyx definitely remains underrated. On Saturdays, Onyx offers a fantastic night out called Scene, which in itself is quite an experience because the decor in onyx is fashionable and by all means different from any other club in Sheffield.

7. Tank

53-55 Arundel Gate

On Monday is open from 11 pm to 4:30 am, on Saturday and Sunday is open from 11:30 pm to 6 am

Another club that during the day passes unnoticed. Multi-awarded Tank, a first glance, appears like the lovechild of a modernist structure and a tent, therefore the importance of Tank as a landmark of the Sheffield clubbing culture passes unnoticed. Furthermore, Tank distinguishes itself because it is one of the best nightclubs in the “Steel City” where to listen to electronic, particularly house music. Tank is best appreciated on a Monday when Sunken takes palace.

6.Corporation

2 Milton street S1 4JU

Open on Monday, Friday and Sunday from 10 Pm to 3 AM

If it wasn’t for the legendary reputation, Corporation, commonly referred to as Corp, would pass unnoticed, however, Corp is not your average club next door. Indeed, Corp is quite an experience regularly playing an extensive array of music including emo and alternative and for the bravest of hearts even heavy metal, but even if your music taste is more mainstream there will be something for you too, don’t worry. An essential experience for anyone going to Corp should be the rainbow challenge. Essentially the rainbow challenge consists of drinking all the rainbow-coloured pints on the same night. However, the floor in Corp is really sticky, therefore is advised to leave your best shoes at home, on the other hand, if you are lucky after leaving Corp you might win a free entry for Monday.

5. West Street Live

128 West Street S1 4ES

Every day open from 7 pm to 3 pm

Located, literally just a couple of doors away from Tiger Works, the ever-so-popular West Street Live is a worthy competitor. During the day West Street live appears like an ordinary traditional building. Still, at night, when the dark arrives, West Street Live transforms into a sought-after destination constantly exploding with energy,  solid musical hits and countless numbers of like-minded students. If that does not entice you enough, there’s more since West Street live offers  a superb choice of unique drinks, with  the cherry on top, is the Chuck Norris shot, made with the singular combination of vodka and chilly powder this shot will leave a burning mark on your memory(and your stomach

4. Code

28 Eyre Street S1 4QY

Open on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 10:30 pm to 4:40 am

Even as early as freshers week, students from both unis talk fondly about Code. In fact, one could even consider this all-time favourite venue as one of the stapes of the Sheffield clubbing culture. Effectively, Code forges together two of the most essential things for students: a fantastic night out and cheap drinks. Come on a Tuesday for the Wonderland event and all drinks are served at the special price of 90p.

3. Tiger Works

136 West Street S1 4ES

Open from 7 pm to 2:30 am on Sunday, and all weekdays except Friday when is open from 5 pm to 4:30 am, same goes for Saturday.

Don’t be fooled by this smaller location. Indeed Tiger Works guarantees a great time on any occasion, particularly when in a large group, therefore it does not come as a surprise that Tiger Works is extremely popular with student bar crawls. The music never disappoints usually playing a mixture of all-time favourite hits, so the energy will convince even the shyest person to dance as if there is no tomorrow. and if Tiger Works is a stop in a pub crawl.

2. The Leadmill

6 Leadmill Road, S1 4SE

The venue per se on weekdays is open from 10 am to 5 pm, on Saturday is open from 11 am to 4:30 pm and on Sunday is closed, but club nights usually start from 11 pm.

The Leadmill, is a building with a rich and proud history, being the longest-running musical venue in Sheffield, the Leadmill had the honour to host big names on the likes of Oasis, and in full Sheffield fashion, even the Arctic Monkeys. Nowadays, the Leadmill tradition continues by regularly hosting some of the most sought-after club nights among students in Sheffield which include the much loved Abba party, club Tropicana and Wrong Crowd. For the dancing queens out there Abba Party is self-explanatory, club Tropicana does pop music with an exotic summery backdrop in the decor and you get to drink from a bucket, whilst Wrong Crowd plays punk and rock hits so if you fancy listening to Bring me the Horizon that’s the night for you. The cost for these events is usually £6. Unfortunately, the Leadmill is currently in the throes of an eviction, but a petition has been started to prevent that from happening.

1. Foundry

University, Student Union, Western Bank S10 2TG

Foundry club Sheffield

Located right at the heart of the action, inside the iconic University of Sheffield Student Union, the Foundry offers everything that a student needs on a clubbing night. Indeed, as a result of such student focus, the Foundry feels safer compared to clubs in town and there is a higher chance to bump into a friend making the atmosphere even more relaxed. At the Foundry, during term times, almost every day there is a club night or an event taking place and its variety remains unchallenged. From the energetic electronic beats of The Tuesday Club to screaming your heart out at Pop-Tarts, rest assured that the Foundry will be the setting for fond university memories. Finally, most events at the Foundry would usually cost just over a fiver.
