There’s nothing quite like a hike with a breath-taking view. It’s a great thing to do with your friends and family, and walking is a fantastic way to maintain health and fitness. If you’re looking for a place to hike, here are the top places in the UK for you to adventure to!
Yorkshire’s Three Peaks
The Mountains of Ingleborough, Pen-y-Ghent and Whenside stand proudly and are known as the Three Peaks. Collectively, the mountains cover 1585 metres across 24 miles. The Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge takes place every year, between April and October, where volunteers take part in climbing each mountain for charity! Scafell Pike
Location: Lake District, England
If you are looking for a place to hike, why not go full out and climb England’s tallest mountain. Scafell Pike is a whooping 3,209 ft (above sea level) and has over one million visits every year. Plus, if you do reach the top, you can brag to your friends that ‘you stood on top of England’.
Snowdonia
Location: Penrhyndeudraeth, Gwynedd LL48 6LF
Why not climb Snowdonia a visit, in Wales. Snowdonia is an area enriched in culture and wildlife and is home to over 26,000 people. Legend also has it that if you hike in October, you may find snow (see what I did there?).
West Highland Way
Location: Glasgow, Scotland
The West Highland Way is Scotland’s most popular destination for enthusiastic hikers. The mountain is over 154km long and runs from Fort William in the Scottish Highlands, north of Glasgow to Milngavie. On the way, make sure you look out for distinctive wildlife such as feral goats, red deers, and if you get lucky you may even spot the mighty golden eagle.
Hadrian’s Wall
Location: Brampton, England
Back in the Roman Empire days, the Hadrian’s Wall was used to guard the North-West frontier and was used as a fort for soldiers. Today, the 84-mile route can take you through this historical place as well as other ancient settlements and museums. You get to hike and become a historian all at once!
Ben Nevis
Location: Scotland
Ben Nevis in Scotland is a great place to go for a hike with your comrades. Ben Nevis was once an active volcano that exploded many years ago. It then collapsed inwards and is today known as “the mountain in the clouds”. The famous peak attracts more than 125,000 climbers every year and is a brilliant place for an adventure!
