6. Highfields Park

Nottingham is full of beautiful parks. This one is a short stroll from University of Nottingham Campus. Its a student tradition to instagram yourself on the lake in a boat and its usually followed by an ice cream pic from the nearby van. Don’t let your instagram suffer and get yourself down here.

7. Broadway Cinema
Open: screening times vary
This will change your cinema experience as you know it. Total Film magazine once described this place as the best in the world. Its an independent cinema designed by Paul Smith and shows the best international films. It also has two lively cafe bars!

8. Caves
Open: various times (see below)
Now this is the coolest kept secret in Nottingham. These underground caves are open to the public and have seen medieval remnants that have seen hundreds of uses, including cave dwellings, underground jails and bowling alleys. A network of caves under the castle were even used to capture the man who killed King Edwards III father.

9. Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem
Open: Sunday – Thursday 11am-11pm; Friday – Saturday 11am-12am
This place is somewhat a kept secret and easy to dismiss. This is the oldest pub, historically known as the watering hole where travellers on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem would stop off for a drink. Its definitely worth having a drink within the caves here.

10. Boilermaker
Monday-Saturday 5pm-1am (door closes at 12.30am); Sunday 7-1am (door closes 12.30am)
This is one of the best places to go for a great night. You might be a bit confused at first, when you approach a storefront that looks like a boiler shop. But you’ll soon realise your at the right place when you see the queues of people dolled up outside. They are home to the best cocktails and the nest atmosphere. You’ll have to get past the boiler man on the front desk first to be let through the sink into the secret bar. Make sure to have your secret password to hand…
