Over the years, we have had our hearts teased with many times over the possibility of a Friends reunion, but now is finally the time as the reunion official is not only the reunion official, but they have just wrapped up filming! So here is everything we know about the Friends reunion special so far…

When did filming start?

The Friends reunion special was set to start in 2020, which should come as no surprise since that was the year Emma would have finally woken up from her nap, but filming was delayed thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. We also know that the reunion is being directed by Ben Winston, and produced by all six of the core cast members as well as a few others. Filming took place in 2021 over three days in Los Angeles, almost 17 years since the show last aired.

When and where can I watch it?

You don’t have to wait long to watch the reunion as it will be released on May 27th 2021. The reunion will be exclusive to HBO Max, but in the UK HBO has a deal with Sky, so we would expect to see it on their channel. However, we have found a trailer for the special that you can watch!

How long is the reunion?

The reunion show is a stand-alone episode and will not mark the start of a new season. At the moment, it’s also unconfirmed how long the reunion episode will be. However, we do know that the episode is not carrying on from the beloved ten series; each cast member will be there as themselves, not their characters. So Jennifer Aniston will be Jennifer, not Rachel.

Who will be returning?

Thanks to the trailer for the reunion and this post on Jennifer Aniston’s Instagram, it appears that all of the core six cast members will be a part of the reunion. Each of the core six cast members are expected to earn over $2 million dollars each from the reunion episode, and with that kind of money it’s shocking they haven’t done one sooner. Since they are all appearing as themselves and not their characters, we expect the episode to show the cast members reminiscing about their time on the show, but we have also heard that the reunion will feature some special celebrity guests, like David Beckham, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Cara Delevingne and even James Corden!
