The Circle is a Channel 4 reality show that involves a group of people moving into a luxury block of flats, and chatting with each other online, via The Circle. The game is a popularity contest, and the players have to repeatedly rate each other to choose ‘Influencers’ who then ‘block’ people from The Circle. The best bit is, you don’t have to be yourself. As with a lot of social media, the profiles in The Circle can lie. You can go in as a catfish, and do whatever it takes to win. The prize on the show is usually a large sum of money, but The Circle Celebrity is for charity, so the prize will be going to Stand Up To Cancer.
The show aired from the 9th March, and has now finished. But for anyone who is playing catch up, here’s what’s in store.
Who’s on the show?
Denise Van Outen as herself
Singer, actress, dancer and presenter Denise will be entering The Circle as herself. She is best known for presenting The Big Breakfast, and narrating TOWIE. Going into The Circle is the easy option, but only if you’re likeable. We will have to wait and see whether Denise goes all outen when it comes to making friends.
Saffron Barker as herself
Influencer and Youtuber Saffron has appeared on our screens before on Strictly Come Dancing. She’s entering The Circle as herself, and we’re not surprised – being an influencer has surely set her up to do well in The Circle, right?
Nadia Sawalha and Kaye Adams as Gemma Collins
Loose Women stars Nadia and Kaye are working together to channel the good ol’ GC in The Circle. They let the cat out of the bag on Loose Women, and it turns out they’d both been dying to tell someone. They’re not the most similar people to Gemma, so we’re all excited to see how that works out… or doesn’t.
Charlotte Crosby as Peter Andre
Geordie Shore actress Charlotte Crosby is entering The Circle as Aussie 2000s heart-throb, Peter Andre. She reckons that because Peter Andre is such a “nice guy”, that she’s onto a winner. “He’s loved by so many people”, she told Chronicle Live.
Baga Chipz as Kim Woodburn
Drag Race UK star has promised Chronicle Live that she’s bringing it all to the show, and that she’ll create “TV gold” as the TV presenter, personality and writer Kim Woodburn. She’s really going to have to get in some clean headspace to work on this one.
Lady Leshurr as Big Narstie
Lady Leshurr, a rapper perhaps most famous for her Queens Speech series of songs, is entering The Circle as fellow musician Big Narstie. She’s remained relatively quiet about her appearance on the show, after telling Big Narstie himself to watch!
Duncan James as himself
The BLue singer Duncan James is entering The Circle as himself. Speaking about the show, he said that working on it was a “head f*ck”, but that the audience would love it.
Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks as Rachel Riley
The two reality stars are coming together to play the famous Countdown host. They’ve definitely got their work cut out for them! Pete spoke about their choice, explaining that, “[they] tried to think of someone that is as different as you could get from [them]”. He went on to say how Rachel is smart, a woman, and nice… not sure what that says about the boys!
Rickie Haywood-Williams and Melvin Odoom as Will.I.Am
The pair of presenters are trying to trick The Circle players into thinking they are a Black Eyed Pea. All we can think is that they’re lucky The Circle doesn’t allow voice notes… We’d hate to hear that impression!
