At just 25 years old (born 14 December 1996 ) Zara McDermott has already done pretty well for herself. Having decided against university when she left school, she opted for an apprenticeship instead. This Essex girl then went on to work as a government advisor before appearing on the 2018 series of Love Island UK. In her preview clip for the show, she said that ‘she’s definitely a catch’ and judging by how well she’s doing these days, we’d say that the nation agrees with that.

Zara entered the reality tv dating show, Love Island in season four. She entered the season in episode 15 and was swiftly dumped in episode 25 despite pursuing Adam Collard. However, Zara was dumped on Day 25 when Adam’s head was turned by the new girls at Casa Amor. The pair then dated briefly after Adam was dumped from the show.
Despite not making it to the finals of Love Island, her appearance on the show kickstarted Zara’s career. After leaving the show, Zara went on to join the cast of Made in Chelsea when she began dating her boyfriend, MIC star, Sam Thompson.

Zara and MIC star, Sam Thompson, confirmed their romance in the summer of 2019 however the pair had somewhat of a turbulent relationship. They famously broke up on our screens in an episode of Made in Chelsea. Following speculation, Zara alluded to the fact that she had cheated on Sam through a post on her Instagram. She wrote “A huge mistake I made a year ago has recently come to light and I want to face this head-on. I don’t condone being unfaithful and I made a huge mistake at a time in my life where I was hugely selfish and immature.”
However, it seems that the pair managed to overcome their problems and are now dating again. They live together in Chelsea and seem to often hang out with Sam’s sister and ex MIC star, Louise Thompson.

After being trolled on social media, Zara took a backseat from starring in reality TV herself and moved on to presenting roles. She went on to film a revenge porn documentary with BBC Three where she drew on some of her own experiences. She also released another BBC documentary after this about sexism and rape culture in schools. Both documentaries were very well received.
In 2022, Zara took on the role of host of the BBC reality dating show- Love in the Flesh. The popular show brings together couples who have only ever dated online and gets them to meet for the first time. They spend one week together, getting to know each other and finding out if their online connection means they can find love in real life.

Zara has also been working as a model alongside her other jobs. She is currently signed up with the modelling agency, Storm Management, where her good friend and current Made in Chelsea star, Ruby Adler works as an agent.
