Accommodation
One of the main decisions you will need to decide once you have chosen to go to Newman University is deciding where you are going to live. Most students live in either university-managed accommodation or in private student accommodation, but some are lucky enough to already live close to the university and can commute.
However living on campus can help you grow your independence, and for most people student accommodation is their first chance of living away from home. Newman University has a range of accommodation options for their students, and they even had a new university-managed property open up in 2018. Childcare
More and more students are starting their time at university after already starting a family, which means childcare can be a huge area of concern. However, there is an independent nursery within the Newman University campus. Whipper Snappers is a small nursery and only care for 18 children so they do have a waiting list. But the location is ideal for parents wanting to attend their lectures/seminars knowing their child is only around the corner, so as soon as you have a place at Newman University you should add their name to the list.

Disability and Dyslexia
At Newman University they want all students to do the best that they can, and to make sure that is possible they have support available for students who have a disability or a learning disorder.
If you have been assessed as having dyslexia you are able to have extra time in exams, extensions in library loans, recording arrangements for teaching, as well as the ‘Red Dot Scheme’. The university also has a dyslexia adviser who can help students apply for a disabled student allowance, which can help pay for specialist equipment. The university also can provide one to one support to students with dyslexia through tutors.

Faith and Spirituality
Newman University is very accommodating to its students religious and spiritual beliefs and has a chapel, blessed sacrament chapel, and a multi-faith prayer room. There are also some religious societies within the Newman students union, including the Newman Christian Union who meet on Thursdays, and the Islamic Society who meet on Wednesdays.

Although there are no doctor or dentist clinics on Newman University campus, there are plenty nearby which you can find here. The university also encourages students to let them know of any health conditions they may have, even if they don’t think it will affect their studies. Letting the university know, even if you do not need any assistance, means that if your health should get worse they can help you find specialist equipment, organise extensions to assignments, or adjust examinations.
