The guys at Opposite will make your early Monday morning lecture that little bit more bearable with their creamy, frothed to perfection lattes. And the staff is pretty cheery too. Located just a two minute walk from campus, it’s too convenient not to try. Hint: Try their homemade brownies when you can spare a pound, they’re so worth it.

Pump ‘n Grind

New kids on the block, Pump ‘n Grind have only been opened for a year, but they’ve managed to make their mark in a short time. Using Single Origin beans, their specialty coffee has all the taste, with just the right amount of flair.

Stage Espresso & Brew Bar

Stage opened it’s doors in January this year, promising specialty coffees from around the world, loose leaf tea and a selection of yummy treats. Over 9 months later and it’s safe to say their baby has delivered. If you like to experiment with different types of beans, this place will be right up your alley.

Fettle Cafe

Fettle cafe don’t fuck around when it comes to their coffee. No matter which barista you get, they’re just as talented and trained as the next one. Consistency is key with coffee, so for a good brew any time, every time — Fettle wins. Did we mention they also have a red velvet latte? Yep. Go. Now.

Laynes Espresso

If you’re making your way to uni from the train station, you HAVE to stop in at Laynes. Arguably the best coffee in Leeds, the smooth espresso and perfectly tempered milk will soothe the worst winter mornings. Their mouthwatering brunch menu and cosy decor should also be at the top of your weekend hit list.

La Bottega Milanese

Where? The Light, The Headrow, Leeds LS1 8TL

This modern coffee house has two locations in Leeds, with the closest one to uni being inside The Light. It’s a great place to hang out between classes, with ample table space to study while you sip your specialty coffee. The owners are Italian, so you’ll have a hard time resisting the handmade canollis and pastries on display. Just give in.

Miro

It may not look like much from the outside, but venture inside and you’ll soon discover the magic that is Miro. Serving their coffee the Italian way, expect a punch in the face espresso hit that’s ideal during exam time. And while we’ve already crowned our best vegetarian restaurants in the area, it’s worth mentioning Miro’s fabulous falafel salad, ideal for a cheap, healthy lunch between classes.
