From this week, you will be able to meet up to six people outside, and with a heatwave on the horizon, it’s the perfect time to take advantage of Sheffield’s many parks for a picnic.
1. Endcliffe Park
Endcliffe Park is located just between Hallam and Uni of campuses, making it a great place for students to meet. The nearby Ecclesall Road has loads of independent restaurants and cafes to choose from, including the vegan Pom Kitchen, which is now selling picnic boxes so that you can share a boujee picnic with your mates. The park itself is lovely and often packed with cute dogs on a sunny afternoon, just be careful they don’t steal your sandwiches.
2. The Botanical Gardens
The Botanical Gardens are just down the road from Endcliffe Park but are also a prime picnic spot. The cafe does great coffee, which you can enjoy whilst sitting amongst plants from all over the world. But the best spot in the springtime is just in front of the beautiful crocuses.
3. Weston Park
If you are a Uni of student, enjoy a picnic in Weston Park, just next to campus on a sunny day of avoiding lectures. There’s of
ten an ice cream van parked just outside along with the Starbucks across the road, so you’ll never be short of refreshments. The duck pond, bright blue bandstand and flowers make this a great place to enjoy a picnic.
4. Devonshire Green
Dev green lies just off West Street and Division Street, so if you’re a fan of fast food, this is the spot for you as it is right next to a KFC, Taco Bell, Dunkin Doughnuts and much more.
5. Bole Hill
Tucked away in Crookes, this park, with its panoramic views of Sheffield, is the perfect place to watch the sunset over the steel city. Grab your wine and olives for a romantic evening.
6. Norfolk Heritage Grounds
Another amazing view over Sheffield is on offer at the Norfolk Heritage Grounds, found just above the train station. Enjoy a walk through the tree-lined promenade before settling down to eat your picnic.
As lockdown eases, we hope you enjoy your new favourite picnic spots!
