Possibly the greatest student area in the UK, Headingley in Leeds, is known as a hub of culture, food and, of course, partying. Give yourself a pat on the back because the greatest thing about Headingley is the amount of students there. It’s incredible to live somewhere that is packed with fun, kind and generally amazing people.

There’s not many student areas that can also boast a world-class cricket venue. But for those of us who live in the area, Headingley Stadium is right on our doorstep. And don’t forget Leeds Rhinos and Yorkshire Carnegie both play next door as well.

Headingley is undoubtedly a party-goers paradise. You’ve got The Original Oak, The Arc, The Box. The list is pretty much endless. No wonder Leeds students were named the sixth heaviest drinkers in the country.

And don’t forget (possibly) the UK’s most famous pub crawl — The Otley Run. Get yourself in some amazing fancy dress and attempt to make it all the way to Dry Dock — it’s pretty tough.
6. The house parties
Every week there is going to be an amazing house party kicking off in Headingley. Probably not great for the neighbours but perfect if you’re a party-loving student.
7. The reputation
Students who go to other universities will instantly be hit with a wave of jealousy when you tell them you live in Headingley. Eveyone’s heard of it as a great place to live.
8. The alumni
You can tell a lot about a place by the types of people who have lived there before you. And Headingley has some amazing former residents including Lord Of The Rings creater JRR Tolkien and playwright Alan Bennett.
9. The restaurants
They say in London you’re only ever 6ft away from a rat (or 164ft according to the BBC), but in Headingley you’re only ever 6ft away from an incredible restaurant. Some of our favourites include Heaney and Mill, Salvo’s and Jino’s Thai Cafe.
10. The location
And finally, one of the most amazing things of all, it’s a short walk into uni. You probably don’t think about this on a day-to-day basis but you do save a load of cash by not buying bus tickets every day.
