Impressing a potential or current lover can be tricky business when you’re deep in your over draft

But dates don’t have to be lavish and extravagant to sweep someone off their feet.

We’ve got some great (and cheap) date ideas to prove our point.

1. Watch a gig

Brudenell Social Club host loads of gig that are cheap to get into. The bands playing are usually pretty small time, but you never know, you could be watching the next best thing.

2. Go swinging

How much? £4.50 per hour off peak and £6 per half hour during peak times.

It’s not as naughty as it sounds, we promise. Roxy Ball Room has plenty of activities to distract you from those first date gitters including ping pong, pool, beer pong and mini golf. Test your partner’s putting skills on the 9 hole mini golf course and make up some rules — the one with the most points gets a drink.

3. Go walkies

How much? Free.

Make a romantic stroll even better by taking a rescue dog along with you. Not only will you look super sensitive but, you won’t end up lonely if things don’t work out too well.

4. See the tropical animals

Where? Tropical World, Princes Avenue, LS8 2ER.
How much? £6 for an adult half day ticket.

If you’re more fascinated with animals from exotic countries, this is the place for you. Explore the seven different zones within the zoo and visit animals from countries far and wide.

5. See some cool art

Where? Yorkshire Sculpture Park, West Bretton, Wakefield WF4 4JX.
How much? Free.

This outdoor gallery has 500 acres of land for you to wander round and flirt until your heart’s content. Check out the amazing outdoor sculptures and pick the ideal one for your couple selfie.

6. Recreate that famous scene from Ghost

How much? £6 to £36 for pottery.

Okay so you won’t strictly be able to straddle your lover as you both sumptuously mould a pot together but, pottery painting is a fun, therapeutic activity to do while you guys are getting to know each other.

7. Soak up some local history

Have a wander around the museum and learn about the local history while flirting up a storm. There are a number of exhibitions in the museum, including the skeletons of 12 people from Yorkshire and London. What says kiss me more than a load of old bones hey?
