If your date is sporty, this is a fun option for a sunny afternoon. Book an hour slot on the pitch using Premier Tennis’ online system for only a couple of quid. Not only is there tennis but a lake where you can feed the ducks and plenty of room to chill and have some after game snacks.
The Winter Garden

The Winter Gardens, nestled in the city centre, are a cheap option for colder days. Explore the many plants and sculptures in the gardens before having a warming hot chocolate in the cafe and exploring the independent shops.
Millennium Art Gallery

Hidden in the Winter Gardens is the Millenium Art Gallery. With an ever-changing selection of exhibits, this is a unique date option if your date likes art and culture. Also, a gallery provides lots of topics of conversation, so it’s a great first date idea. After browsing the museum, check out their cafe, Ambulo, for an Instagram worthy coffee.
Showroom Cinema

Showroom is Sheffield’s independent cinema situated in the heart of Hallam’s campus. They show a range of international films if you fancy something a bit different and at only £4.50 a ticket for under 26-year-olds this is a great choice whilst saving your pennies.
The Peak District
Just a bus or train ride from the city centre is the Peak District. With loads of options for walks, hikes, picnics and much more, the Peak District has a wealth of options of cheap date ideas. Try a walk around Forge Dam or a hike up Mam Tor for a picturesque afternoon with your other half.
Our Cow Molly

Our Cow Molly is Sheffield’s only dairy, providing milk and ice cream to the city. Once at Rivelin Valley Trail, take a short walk over the hills to reach Our Cow Molly where you’ll be rewarded with delicious ice cream and great views of Sheffield’s countryside.
Bole Hill Views

Mayfield Alpaca Farm

Slightly outside of the city centre but worth the trek, Mayfield Alpaca Farm is great for animal lovers.

Take your date to one of Sheffield’s great coffee shops. If you’re a coffee addict, try Tamper Coffee with its carefully selected range of high-quality coffee. If your date has a sweet tooth, try Steam Yard, whose doughnuts are to die for. Whatever your choice, there’s a coffee shop for you in Sheffield.
Sharrow Lantern Festival

Every year in Mount Pleasant Park, the Sharrow Lantern Carnival takes place. Attendees bring a lantern based on the assigned theme which this year was ‘The Wild Wild Wood’. Take part in free lantern making workshops and if that date goes well, explore the festival together. The carnival itself is very romantic with the warm lights of the lanterns overlooking the city, and it’s all free, making it one of the top cheap dates in Sheffield.
Weston Park Museum

The museum, which is located in Weston Park, is a great location to let out your inner child and learn about the city. The collection of exhibitions change over the year so you can go again and again, especially because the museum is free. This is a nice option for those on a budget as not only is the museum free but there’s a couple of lovely parks nearby for a romantic stroll.
The Climbing Works
