Now that lockdown is easing, outdoor activities are beginning to open across England. Here are some of the best ones available in the gorgeous cities of Bath and Bristol! Go and enjoy some of these amazing outdoor activities near you.
Bath
The Little Zoo and Bath City Farm
Bath doesn’t have a huge zoo like other cities, but you’ll be pleased to hear about The Little Zoo and Bath City Farm. The former is a wolf experience ran by husband and wife, where you meet and learn about Eurasian wolves. You have to book an appointment for a wolf experience, but they also have snakes, tarantulas, raccoons, meerkats, ocelots and other animals. Alternatively, at Bath City Farm in Twerton, you can explore their nature trail, play in the park, visit their cafe or see their pigs, sheep, goats, ponies, chickens, and ducks.
The Botanical Gardens at Royal Victoria Park
The Botanical Gardens at Royal Victoria Park were started in 1887 and cover 9 acres of land. You can go and visit to see their trees, shrubs, rock gardens, scented walk, and all the gorgeous flowers they’ve got to offer.
Longleat Safari Park
Between Bath and Southampton is Longleat, a nationally renowned safari park! Here you can see deer, elephants, lions, and a whole range of other wild animals.
Bath Boating
In Bath, you can rent out rowing boats to explore the river. Prices vary from £7 upwards for adults, depending on what kind of boat you rent out and for how long. But what better way to appreciate the outdoors again than immersing yourself in it on a rowboat!
Bristol
Bristol Zoo
If you’re looking for things to do with your friends in Bristol from April 12th, then why not go and visit Bristol Zoo? They’ve got a huge range of animals and work towards conservation goals, so you can go and see gorillas, red pandas, kangaroos, lions, and even penguins and know you’re doing some good by contributing to the cause. On top of that, they’ve also got ZooRopia, an adventure rope course that allows you to swing alongside the gorillas, gibbons and lemurs. To have a go on ZooRopia, you only have to pay an extra £8.70 on top of the entry price of £17.84.
University of Bristol Botanic Garden
The University of Bristol has a beautiful botanic garden that is open to visitors from April 12th. You will need to book tickets, though. The garden has an evolution collection, local flora and rare native collection, a Mediterranean range, and a useful plants section. There are also indoor sections to the gardens, but unfortunately, these areas have to remain shut for the time being.
Congo Falls Adventure Golf
The perfect date activity, or somewhere to go if you really need a laugh, Congo Adventure Golf course is outside and so, it’s now open for you to and try your best at. Even if you know your best is, well, really bad.
Wild Place Project
If you don’t fancy Bristol Zoo, try out Wild Place Projects. There, you can see plenty of wild animals and even sponsor them to help support their lives and needs!
The Wave
If you’re a fan of surfing or bodyboarding but don’t fancy the trip all the way to the coast, a visit to The Wave is in order. These controlled waves provide the chance to practice and learn surfing and bodyboarding skills without having to freeze in coastal winds!
Bristol Activity Center
At the Bristol Activity Center, you can try out archery, paintballing, bubble football, and even clay pigeon shooting. It’s all outdoors, and you book per activity!
