Bristol Folk Festival

For all music fans, the Folk Festival will have folk artists from all over the country performing at various venues. This year will feature Breath, Spiers & Boden, Sheelanagig, Lady Nade, Frankie Archer, Ranagri  and more, and you have the chance to buy weekend tickets or book individual sessions. With at least five main planned performances, the festival is a must for folk lovers. Bristol Folk House will also be hosting ceilidhs and upbeat sets for those who want to join in.

When: On a break for 2024

If you loved studying Macbeth in school or university, then you’ll love the Bristol Shakespeare Festival! Although details for venues in Bristol haven’t yet been released, tickets for Bath are available. Further dates and venues for other areas of the country are also yet to be announced. Last year, the organisers bring you a musical Macbeth, so we’re curious to see what will take place in 2023.  The Festival takes place annually, and brings the Bard’s plays to life in unique areas of the country, indoors and outdoors. 

Bristol Festival of Nature

Bristol Festival of Nature plan numerous events around Bath and Bristol that celebrate nature. There will be nature walks and talks, family-friendly activities, wildlife workshops, literary events and more. Considered the largest celebration of nature, it is free and open to all to partake in with the hopes of positively impacting local wildlife. If you’re a keen environmentalist, or just want something introductory to learning more about where we live, definitely check out this festival!

Bristol Harbour Festival

When: 19th – 21st July, 2024

Bristol Harbour Festival is set to celebrate ‘the heart and soul of the city’ this July in Harbourside and City Centre. There are plenty of events taking place around the city, which include musical stages on land and the river, spoken word performances, dances in the Millennium Square and a circus playground. Be sure to show your love for the city by partaking, whether it’s by buying the food and drink at the market stalls or going for leisurely boat rides. As there is a wide array of events taking place, there is something for everyone, so head to the website to check it out!

Bristol Balloon Fiesta

When: 8th -11th August, 2024

To finish this list, we have The Balloon Festival at Ashton Court Estate. An annual event that started in 1979, it’s a local and national favourite, which draws in crowds from all over the country. The days usually start at 6 am with hot air balloon lifts, and the Estate is packed with different local stands offering a range of food, drinks and more. Live music also plays, and there are kid entertainment centres and funfairs. At 6 pm, the afternoon hot air balloon lift starts, which is something to see! The views are breathtaking and it is a thrilling experience. This festival is great for family or friends, and a must-go for anyone who loves heights. Do keep in mind that although entry is free, car parking spots must be paid for in advance. This can be done through the website.
