Edinburgh during the Winter is one of the coldest, wettest times of year- not the most ideal time to be doing things outdoors! Luckily, we are sharing some of the best indoor activities to do in Edinburgh this Winter!
Mini-Golf
For anyone fancying some indoor mini sports, there are several Mini-Golf centres in Edinburgh to choose from for any rainy day! Foreplay Crazy Golf is an adults only venue, with tasty cocktails and a variety of street food to complement your golfing skills! Perfect for a fun date, a group meet-up or an indoor activity before a night on the town, Foreplay Crazy Golf is the perfect destination! Every Wednesday they run 50% off selected cocktails and buy one get one free on all golf courses. And if you are a student, you can enjoy 50% off golf as well as selected cocktails and food options!
Bouldering
You might want something a bit more adventurous on your Winter Day, so why not try bouldering? Alien Rock is an indoor bouldering centre located in Leith in a former church building. For £32 you can book a taster session (for those who have never climbed before!). And if you want to make bouldering more of a hobby, Alien Rock run courses for adults to learn the basics to climbing alone, with a maximum of six people to a course.
If roped climbing or heights isn’t for you, Alien Rock also has a sister gym, Alien Bloc. Alien Bloc is also an indoor bouldering centre built for all ages- the only difference is the walls are only 4.7 metres in height, so no ropes are needed! Pricing is the same at both centres, so the only decision you need to make is…how high are you willing to climb?
Adult Soft Play
Some Winter days, all you want to do is relive the best childhood moments- how about an adult’s only soft play! Located in Glasgow, it is a mere one hour train ride away from Edinburgh Waverley. Inflata Nation theme park is a UK-wide company with nine locations throughout Britain. Boasting an entire soft play centre, complete with drop slides, climbing walls and inflatable fighting arenas, this is the perfect place to spend a cold winter’s afternoon. When selecting for adults-only, simply click on their classes and select a time!
Bowling
Another way to let off some steam during the colder months is indoor bowling! Head down to Edinburgh Fountain Park for a day of ten-pin bowling, table tennis, pool, and arcade games! There is even a bar for anyone who would prefer to watch Sky Sports and chill after a hectic game! Alternatively, Cosmic Bowling is a population option on offer, where you can ten-pin bowl in neon-lit darkness!
Cinema
Any Hollywood lovers would jump at the chance to visit any of Edinburgh’s cinemas during the rainy season! With a wide variety of cinemas at varying prices you can find something that will suit everyone. For those wanting to spend a bit less, why not try the Vue Omni Centre cinema? For only £4.99 you can go see any movie on the big screen now! If you are wanting something a bit more vintage feeling and have a bit more money to spend, you could head to the Scotsman Picture House. Located beneath the Scotsman Hotel, the Picture house is the epitome of old-school luxury cinema, with red armchairs, cocktails and retro snacks on offer. At £24.95 it is considerably more expensive than the Vue Omni centre however the experience is worth the price, with older classics being shown to match the vintage aesthetic of the cinema.
Despite the winter months in Edinburgh somewhat limiting your outdoor experiences, the indoor activities on offer more than made up for it! Hopefully you can make it to one of our recommendations for the best indoor activities to do in Edinburgh this Winter!
