Robin Hood’s city is packed with wonderful halal restaurants which serve up the best grub from around the world.

1. Tipoo Turkish Restaurant

What? Traditional Turkish food

Everyone knows, the restaurant industry is tough. So the fact Tipoo has been around for more than a decade is comforting. You’ll be able to watch the food being cooked as you sit down with friends to sample their traditional Turkish fare. On the menu you will find lots of meats from kebabs to chops.

2. MemSaab

Where? 12-14 Maid Marian Way, Nottingham, NG1 6HS
What? Regional Indian, Pakistani and modern Indian cuisine

If you’re looking for the best of modern Indian and Pakistani food then MemSaab is a great place to check out. They have got a well-defined menu, not loads of different meals done badly, but a few done well. For the veggies out there, there’s a strong vegetarian menu with items including classics such as saag paneer and vegetable biryani.

3. Bosphorus Restaurant

Where? 91 Alfreton Rd, Nottingham, NG7 3JL
What? Turkish cuisine

Bringing the taste of Turkey to Alfreton Road is Bosphorus. If you fancy some cracking meats then look no further. The chef’s specials include lamb beyti (marinated minced lamb meat season with garlic) and Iskender (lamb doner placed on some bread, topped with Anatolian sauce with butter).

4. Lime Indian Restaurant & Takeaway

What? Modern Indian cuisine

It isn’t for nothing that Lime Indian Restaurant won the East Midlands Indian Restaurant of the Year 2016. It’s a region of the UK which has particularly strong competition so claiming the accolade is particularly impressive. Now Lime still churns out top quality curries which all Trent and Uni Of students need to try at least once.

5. Curry Lounge

Where? 110 Upper Parliament St, Nottingham NG1 6LF
What? Classic Indian and Punjabi cuisine

Curry Lounge’s website is happy to boast its numbers. They’ve got eight years of experience, 17 members of staff and 42 dishes available to pick. However, the most important stat is the number of customers served: 12,500. When you put it into raw figures it makes you realise how much practice these guys have had to perfect their dishes. It’s probably this which makes the food so great and definitely worth a try.

6. Desi DownTown

Where? 7/9 Hockley, Nottingham, NG1 1FH
What? Flavours of the Sub-Continent

Watch the lively chefs play with fire as they cook food in the cracking flaming grill. The team at Desi say they cook large meals to encourage sharing in the traditional Indian fashion. Grab a friend and head to try out this bright spark of a restaurant.

7. Noor Jahan Restaurant

Where? 41 Mansfield Rd, City Centre, Nottingham NG1 3FB
What? Indian cuisine

The self-proclaimed ‘best Indian in Nottingham’ has a lot to live up to. Noor Jahan offers a wide range of set meals which covers a vast range of classic cuisine. It’s perfect for those looking to save a bit of money, the set menu for four people only costs £44. £11 per head is pretty decent way to spend a Friday evening.
