The Aldi graduate scheme is a great opportunity for anyone looking to gain some management skills! It’s the perfect place to start as a recent graduate, and will set you up with skills that you will use for the rest of your life. If you want to learn more about the opportunity and see if it’s for you, then read on to find out more about what working at Aldi could look like!
What is the Aldi graduate scheme?
The Aldi graduate scheme, otherwise known as the Aldi Graduate Area Manager Programme, gives graduates experience as a store manager, teaching you everything you need to know and more about management and business. During the scheme, you will learn more about Aldi as a business, and what it’s like to be in charge of a store. You will gain hands-on experience running a store, so it’s perfect for anyone looking to be a manager.
Who can apply?
To apply, you need to have the right to work in the UK, and a drivers license (for the company car they provide!). Since it’s a graduate scheme, you will also need a 2:1 in a degree. The good thing is that it doesn’t need to be a specific degree, so any topic will do! They also specify that you need 96 UCAS points from your top 3 A Levels from school, which you will most probably have anyway if you went to university.
What perks does the Aldi graduate scheme offer?
The Aldi graduate scheme clearly values their employers, as they offer so many perks that make the scheme so amazing. On your first day, you will get a company car, which is why you need the drivers licence to apply. They also offer a £50,000 starting salary, which is more than any other graduate scheme I’ve seen! They also offer a discount for the gym, access to online mental health resources, opportunities to travel, and 5 weeks holiday!
The application process
As this is such a fantastic opportunity, the application process is quite a long one. First, you will have to complete an online application and also a few tests. You should research the company so you know what they are looking for! Next is a video interview, so make sure you have a space where you can do an interview professionally! After that is an online psychometric test, which measures some of your personal skills and attributes to see if you’re a good match for the scheme. The final step is a group assessment, where you’ll have to work in a team to complete a task they provide.
What will I be doing?
During the year placement, you will get a mentor who will teach you everything you need to know about Aldi and how to be a store manager. Firstly, you will be doing tasks around the store, such as working on the tills and stacking shelves. As the scheme goes on, you will be trusted with more and more responsibilities, such as deciding the rota and ordering items for the store. You will then learn about how the company runs, learning about the accounts and administration. For the final task, you will be a manager for a store for a couple of weeks! If you want more information on the Aldi graduate scheme, go to their website and look through the brochure they’ve created!
You can apply to the graduate scheme throughout the year, but the sooner you apply, the better! If you’re not looking to work at Aldi but still don’t know where to find any jobs, then read our article on the best recruitment agencies for students in the UK!
