Freshers’ events in Sheffield never fail to make for memorable (or not!) nights out! This is your guide to Freshers Week starting from Sunday 22nd September. This really is the start of uni life and such an amazing opportunity to get to know your flatmates, meet new people and experience the nightlife in Sheffield. The following has nights out for the entirety of Freshers’ Week, however I recommend also attending a few society planned nights out to give you a chance to meet some potential course/society friends and other like minded individuals to help create a well-rounded foundation to uni life!
1. The Foundry Welcome Party – Sunday 22nd
The Foundry is the Student Union Nightclub in Sheffield and it hosts Welcome Party for the Sunday of Freshers week every year. It was my first night out in Sheffield last year so its only right we bought tickets for this year too! SU tickets can be bought here for £7. You can expect uni merch freebies and 3 rooms of pop, hiphop and indie music and tons and tons of potential new friends! This is the best way to kick off your freshers experience and create your very first tradition in Sheffield!
2. Leadmill Silent Disco – Monday 23rd
I spent all of first year regretting not dragging my flat to The Leadmill silent disco in freshers week, so this year I am not making that mistake again! My friends who went last year have been raving about it ever since, with three different channels of music, cheap drinks and a photobooth all in one place, what more could you want? Tickets to the Leadmill are available here – it is worth noting that Leadmill tickets are always cheaper the earlier you buy them aka on first release, once they are on last release they are double the price!
3. Tank Sunken Opening Party – Monday 23rd
However, it is also Tank’s Sunken Opening Party part 2 on this Monday. Tank is a newly refurbished nightclub in Sheffield playing house, tech, garage and dance music. Tickets to Tank’s Sunken Opening Party can be bought here!
4. The Tuesday Club – Tuesday 24th Sep
The Tuesday Club is another Foundry Club night, this time a combination of underground dance artists – great for any rave lovers looking for freshers’ events in Sheffield! Get tickets to The Tuesday Club here!
5. Roar – Wednesday 25th Sep
Roar is the Foundry sports night out every Wednesday in Sheffield and has quite the reputation for being a wild night out on a regular week so expect Roar in Freshers to be quite the experience! Tickets to Roar will sell out quickly!
6. SoulJam – Thursday 26th Sep
SoulJam is a dedicated Funk, Soul & Disco night and it is one of my absolute favourite nights out in Sheffield. And it’s one of the most amazing freshers’ events in Sheffield taking place in the first week of uni. However, if you are all Foundried out…
7. Viper Rooms Freshers R&B Party – Thursday 26th Sep
Vipers Rooms is located just off West Street (where lots of bars and clubs are located), giving you the perfect opportunity to experience West Street during Freshers before heading to Viper Rooms R&B party. Tickets for Viper Rooms Freshers can be found here are only £1 so there’s not much to loose!
8. Leadmill Friday – Friday 27th Sep
Leadmill is most well known for its Leadmill Fridays – it is fair to say they were a staple of my first year at uni so it would be wrong not to go in Freshers week! Get your tickets here!
9. Forge Closing Party – Saturday 28th Sep
Riordan, a music producer and successful TikTokker is hosting the Forge Warehouse’s closing party. The Forge is easily missed by lots of Sheffield students so this is the perfect chance to try it out! Tickets can be bought here.
…After all that I’m sure you’ll enjoy an extremely hungover Sunday with your new found besties! Don’t forget to keep it fun all year round though with our top student nights in Sheffield, and list of the best clubs in the city.
