What are the best student halls in Aberdeen?

It depends which university you're at. Farmers Hall Lodge, The Combworks and Powis Place are private options open to students at either University of Aberdeen or Robert Gordon University, while Fyfe House and Wavell House are University of Aberdeen's own halls, and Woolmanhill Flats, Garthdee Towers and Crathie Student Village belong to Robert Gordon.

What are the best University of Aberdeen halls?

Fyfe House and Wavell House both sit in the Hillhead Student Village, giving you access to a gym, supermarket, bar and study space right on your doorstep, plus a scenic spot next to Seaton Park. North Court is also in the village and works well if you want a smaller flat of three or four people.

What are the best Robert Gordon University halls?

Crathie Student Village stands out for being newer and more environmentally focused, with automated lighting and solar panels across its blocks. Woolmanhill Flats and Garthdee Towers are solid, more traditional options with communal kitchens and lounges shared between 5 to 8 flatmates.

What private halls work for either Aberdeen university?

Farmers Hall Lodge, The Combworks and Powis Place are all private options that welcome students from both University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon. The Combworks in particular is known for its social events calendar and modern studio-style rooms.

Which Aberdeen halls have the best facilities?

The Combworks and Powis Place come with the most extras, including gyms, common rooms, communal TVs and secure bike storage. University-run halls like Fyfe House and Wavell House lean more practical, with access to Hillhead Village's shared facilities like a supermarket and gym rather than in-building extras.

Is it better to be close to campus or in a more central location in Aberdeen?

It depends on your priorities. Halls like Fyfe House and North Court in Hillhead Village put you a walk from King's Campus with everything you need nearby, while options like The Combworks trade a slightly longer bus journey for a livelier, more central feel with stronger transport links.

Are there quieter, more intimate halls in Aberdeen?

Farmers Hall Lodge houses just under 150 students, giving it a noticeably cosier, more community feel than some of the bigger blocks. It's a bit further from the city centre, which also makes it a popular choice for medical students heading to the Foresterhill Campus.

What should I consider when choosing accommodation in Aberdeen?

Think about which university and campus you're heading to first, since that affects how convenient each hall's location actually is. From there, weigh up whether you want a bigger, more social block like The Combworks or Crathie, or something smaller and quieter like Farmers Hall Lodge or North Court.
