When it comes to moving to university, one of the most nerve-wracking parts is trying to decide where to live in first year. We’ve helped by putting together a list of the best student halls in Southampton in 2024/25.

For anyone who is looking to study at the University of Southampton or Solent University, you have so many choices of where to live in first year. Do you want to live closer to campus and keep your attendance up, or save on taxis from the club and live more central? Here are the best options out there for Southampton students.

Private Halls

Mercury Point

Mercury Point Southampton

Mercury Point, previously called Liberty Quays, houses 562 students. It’s 10 minutes away from Solent University or a bus journey from the University of Southampton and provides students with the choice between ensuite rooms with shared living spaces and kitchens, or self-contained studios. The building itself is close to the city centre, making it ideal for those looking to make the most out of the city. They also have bike storage to help you get around.

Crescent Place

Crescent Place is right in the middle of the city, meaning it is also right in the middle of the fun! It is a short bus journey from the University of Southampton, and over the road from Solent. There is a huge ASDA nearby, as well as the West Quay shopping centre and lots of green space. The site has 24-hour staff, ensuites, an on-site gym, laundry facilities, a common room and bike storage.

Orion Point
