The best thing about London is the nightlife and as a student, there are plenty of options for budget-friendly, great nights out. From pop music to raves, there’s something for everyone. Check out the list of clubs we have compiled below so that you can get the best clubbing fix ever.
The 10 most epic student nights out in London
1. Ministry of Sound
Address: 103 Gaunt St, SE1 6DP
Located in South London, Ministry of Sound is nothing short of a great night out. Perfect for all university students, this club is the place to get your weekly fix of all things party: drinks, DJs and dancing galore. Encompassed are four rooms playing your ultimate party classics, throwbacks, rave tunes and RnB records, alongside some great discounted drinks (we love to try and stretch our budget for some unforgettable nights out). Ministry also hosts many themed nights such as their famous pub crawl, Milkshake Tuesday (the most popular student night) and special guest appearances, so keep your eyes peeled for their next announcements.
2. Electric Brixton
Address: Town Hall Parade, Brixton, SW2 1RJ
If you’ve just moved to London and have never heard of Electric Brixton, then have your phone on the ready to book your ticket because this place – is one of the best! Famous for their Icebreaker freshers event hosting over 2000 students, Electric is a staple for extravagant nights out with their confetti cannons, circus performers, indoor fireworks, and hype men! Although slightly more expensive than your average night out, it can be expected because this venue is everything but traditional – but pre-drinks never hurt anyone, and there’s a Wetherspoons just down the road!
3. Lightbox
Address: 6a South Lambeth Place, Vauxhall, SW8 1SP
Another South London favourite, Lightbox, is known for its wild nights out and for keeping hundreds of students partying until their morning lectures! Their official Freshers Moving In Party saw the likes of candy floss, ball pits and even inflatables. Alongside their super cheap entry, drink and even snack prices. Additionally, every Thursday night is their ‘Lights On’ student rave, opening up all 3 rooms to the likes of techno, house, UK garage and drum & bass plus live DJ sets and LED lights spanning the entirety of the club.
4. XOYO
Address: 32-37 Cowper St, Old Street, EC2A 4AP
XOYO in east London hosts two mega students nights a week: SNEAK on Tuesdays and Your Mum’s House on Thursdays. SNEAK is all things DJ, house and tech, and Your Mum’s House boasts hip-hop, RnB and grime, so no one is left out here. Can’t decide between the two? Well, why not check them both out? With £3 drinks all night long, super cheap entry and tremendous performances, it would be a crime not to party at them until the early hours – and still make it to your morning classes! Take our word for it; XOYO is iconic.
5. Popworld
Address: 17 Watling St, EC4M 9BB
A late-night bar serving all things cheese is Popworld, the perfect place to go if you want to boogie to Bon Jovi and two-step to Take That all night long! With wacky lights, tunes, and drinks, this is a cult classic for students who want to escape the rave scene and travel back to much simpler times: the 80s and 90s (probably before most of us were born, but there’s no age limit to great music). Not only is it an amazing choice to start your Friday and Saturday nights the right way, but their super affordable cocktails will also make you wish the party never ended.
6. EGG London
Address: 200 York Way, N7 9AX
One of the capital’s favourite nightclubs is EGG, known for its paint parties freshers events. If the great music, boozy menu and 24-hour open time over the weekend weren’t enough, then their student nights certainly will be! You no longer need to be balling on a budget because EGG has a free, yes FREE, student subscription service that will save you some mega money: discounted entry for you and two friends for all events, fast track passes, free admission on your birthday, exclusive access to events – to name a few. With five rooms, lasers and cheap drinks all night long, all we can think about is when lockdown will be over for us to go again.
7. Fabric
Address: 77A Charterhouse St, Farringdon, EC1M 6HJ
Known for some of the best nights out, not just in London, but in the entire world (literally award-winning) Fabric in Farringdon hosts some great student nights that you can’t afford to miss! Whether it be their UV Neon Laser Rave, Freshers Festival or Zoo party, it is a cult favourite amongst all London students. They’re always hosting great events, but Fabric is also the perfect option if you want a more low-key night with your mates dancing along to dubstep, house and techno – the choice is all yours! Rumour has it that no one ever goes to Fabric just once, but you didn’t hear it from us.
8. The Garage
Address: 20-22 Highbury Corner, Highbury East, N5 1RD
‘One of London’s best-kept underground clubbing secrets’ (their words, not ours – although we can’t help but agree) is The Garage, located opposite Highbury and Islington station. SAUCY is their iconic student night that happens every Friday until 4 am. Filled with cheap drinks (and I mean, £2.50 cheap), discounted entry and huge RnB and grime tunes. The Garage is a favourite amongst London students. Whether you just want to bop all night long with your friends or go wild on the stage, anything is possible with a night out here.
9. Zoo Bar
Address: 13-17 Bear St, Leicester Square, WC2H 7AQ
Student nights are a favourite at Zoo Bar because not only do you have drinks starting at £3 and a DJ blasting every genre of music under the sun, every Monday to Thursday is free entry as long as you show your ID! With countless rooms to get your weekday party fix, you won’t even need to check out any other bars because you have everything you could want here. Great for those fancying a chilled night out, and also for those who fancy a wild night out in the centre, Zoo Bar is packed with people who want a great time – so make sure to be one of them!
10. Club De Fromage
Address: O2 Academy Islington, 16 Parkfield St, N1 0PS
Club De Fromage is a go-to night out on a Saturday. If you’re looking for unpretentious nights out with nostalgic music, this is the perfect night out for you. With confetti cannons, balloon drops, and inflatable props this is great for a fun night out. Club De Fromage has the ideal fun and nostalgic atmosphere for only £5 if you are a student! Fancy dress is encouraged which adds to the cheesy vibes and lets you queue jump.
Although there are tons of options, there are our best student nights out in London if we had to narrow it down! But if dancing the night away at a club isn’t what you’re looking for then London has plenty of alternative options for a night out like a comedy club.
