FAQs
What are the cheapest student halls in Exeter?
Rowancroft Mews is the cheapest undergraduate option we found at £146.16 a week for 2026/27, but it is 40 minutes on foot from Streatham. Creedy House twin studios cost £154.50 and St David's costs £159.88. On campus, Lafrowda's standard rooms are the cheapest at £169.19 a week over 40 weeks.
Are first years guaranteed a room at Exeter?
For 2026 entry, yes, if you firmly accepted a full-time first-year place and applied by 31 July 2026. International undergraduates were covered too. The guarantee was for an offer of a room, not a room in one of your four preferences. Check the university site for the 2027 terms once they are published.
Which Exeter halls are catered?
Catered undergraduate options include Lopes Hall, Hope Hall, Mardon Hall and Ransom Pickard at £255.50 a week for a single, plus Holland Hall and Pennsylvania Court at £341.74 for en-suites. All use 32-week contracts and include 16 meals a week. That covers breakfast and dinner on weekdays, and three meals at weekends.
When should I apply for Exeter accommodation?
Aim to apply soon after applications open, which was the beginning of April for 2026/27. The guarantee deadline that year was 31 July 2026. Once you receive an offer, you usually have only three to five days to accept it. Dates for 2027/28 were not listed when we checked in November 2026.
Why do catered rooms look so expensive per week?
Catered rooms have shorter 32-week contracts and include food, so the weekly figure looks high. A Lopes Hall single at £255.50 a week totals £8,066.50 for the contract. An East Park standard room at £217.21 a week totals £8,657.37 over 40 weeks. Compare totals, and remember that the catered contract is eight weeks shorter.
Is it worth living in a partner residence such as Point Exe?
It can be if you want a cheaper en-suite. Point Exe costs £185.40 a week, against £221.48 for a Lafrowda en-suite, and is about 15 minutes from central Streatham. The trade-off is a 42-week contract and an off-campus location. Exeter says these partners help it meet its guarantee during campus building works.
Are bills included in Exeter halls?
The university lists all-inclusive bills and Wi-Fi in rooms across its accommodation. Point Exe's page also confirms all-inclusive bills. The Depot's university page mentions Wi-Fi but does not state bills are covered, so ask the operator, Here Students, before signing. Contents insurance and cleaning vary by residence, so check the page for your hall.

How we built this guide: prices, contract lengths and facilities come from university and operator websites where they publish them, and from named listing sites otherwise. We checked them in November 2026 and each price links to its source. Rent for the contract is our own sum of the lowest listed weekly rent multiplied by its charged weeks, before any deposit, booking fee or discount.
