The official CrossFit branch in Nottingham is just outside the city centre in St Anns. It’s a dedicated CrossFit centre that offers group training sessions, both for beginners and more experienced CrossFitters, along with personal sessions. On top of that, they offer nutrition coaching, if you’re looking to eat more healthily. However, as everything does, it comes at a cost. While they provide a free introduction session, membership starts at £65 a month, seemingly without a student discount. On a student budget, that may be a little bit much. But if you’re committed and go fairly regularly, you can make it work.

CrossFit Comet

CrossFit Comet is a little bit out of the way for both University of Nottingham and Trent students in Basford, but it may be the right option for you. They offer both open gym and regular classes, so all levels of experience are catered to. While the exact timetables vary, it is open early in the morning, in the middle of the day and in the evening. So, no matter if you want to get a quick workout in before going to class for the day, if you want to make use of a free day or if you want one after uni, you have the option to.

Their membership prices are also a lot more available too. An unlimited membership for £67 a month gives you unlimited CrossFit classes and full access to the open gym. The Comet Complete program for £25 a month gives you extra access to coaches outside of classes and is generally advised for more experienced athletes. But, there is a 10% discount for students, and you know we students love a discount!

Urban Outlaws describes itself as “more than just a gym, more than just exercise, it is a fitness community.” Located in Beeston, so perfect for UON students being just a 20-minute walk from the University Park campus. On offer are five different kinds of classes: Fundamentals, for beginners or those who want to take it at a slower pace; Training, which is structured training designed for everyone; Athlete Prep, for more experienced athletes; Yoga; and mobility training.

Their prices are generally more flexible too. They have a £49 a month starter membership, which offers unlimited classes but no open gym access or a £79 a month athlete membership which offers unlimited everything. There is also a £59 a month off-peak membership, which offers unlimited access during the week (classes and open gym until 4pm, Monday to Friday). If you happen to have a free day on your uni timetable, this could be the perfect option for you.
