Gladiators has been one of the BBC’s biggest Saturday-night successes since it returned in 2024, and the arena is about to look a little different. Series four was filmed in Sheffield this summer for an early-2027 airing, with Giant and Cyclone gone and three big-name recruits arriving: triple World’s Strongest Man Tom Stoltman, ex-England prop Joe Marler (as “Mauler”) and Olympic skeleton champion Tabby Stoecker.
The Gladiators look like a million dollars, but are they actually worth it? And how does the Lycra brigade compare with the father-and-son presenting team?
Quick disclaimer: these are Unifresher’s own estimates, based on reported earnings, TV and brand deals, business records at Companies House and what’s publicly known about property. They’re educated guesses, not bank statements. The BBC doesn’t publish what Gladiators are paid, so for most of them we’ve leaned on sporting careers, side businesses and company accounts. Line-up correct at the time of writing.
The top tier: genuinely loaded
1. Bradley Walsh – £25 million
No contest. On top of more than 15 years hosting The Chase, Bradley has had roles in Doctor Who, Coronation Street and Law & Order: UK, plus a Gold-certified debut album. His production company, Wingit Productions, which he co-owns with his wife, reported net assets of almost £20 million in its last published accounts in 2023. We estimate around £25 million.
2. Mark Clattenburg – £3 million
The Gladiators referee was one of the Premier League’s top officials before leaving in 2017 for a reportedly lucrative head of refereeing role in Saudi Arabia. Since then he’s run referees in Greece and Egypt, worked as an analyst for Nottingham Forest and ESPN, and written a book, Whistle Blower. We estimate around £3 million.
3. Mauler (Joe Marler) – £2.5 million
The BBC’s first “celebrity Gladiator” won 95 England caps and two Premiership titles with Harlequins before retiring in 2024. Since then he’s written books, hosted podcasts and reached the final of Celebrity Traitors. His personal company reported net assets of nearly £500,000 earlier this year. We estimate around £2.5 million.
4. Barney Walsh – £2 million
Bradley’s son has carved out a solid career of his own. As well as co-hosting Gladiators, he fronts ITV’s Breaking Dad with his dad (now seven series in) and has played paramedic Cameron in Casualty. Two hit primetime shows at once is a strong position for a presenter in his twenties. We estimate around £2 million.
The comfortably minted middle
5. Legend (Matt Morsia) – £1.5 million
Legend is the arena’s biggest content creator, with around 2.4 million YouTube subscribers on his MattDoesFitness channel, plus a fitness book. His fitness and holding companies reported combined net assets of about £800,000 in their latest accounts. All that adds up to an estimated £1.5 million, making him the richest full-time Gladiator.
6. Tom Stoltman – £1.2 million
The Scottish strongman has won World’s Strongest Man three times, and he and his brother Luke run a gym, merchandise business and a YouTube channel with close to 300,000 subscribers. Add a book and sponsorships, and we estimate the newest Gladiator is worth around £1.2 million before his first series even airs.
7. Nitro (Harry Aikines-Aryeetey) – £1 million
Nitro was a serious sprinter before Gladiators: a Rio 2016 Olympian, World Championships relay bronze medallist and multiple Commonwealth and European relay champion. He’s since done Strictly Come Dancing, Celebrity MasterChef and fronts a CBBC Gladiators spin-off, alongside sponsorship deals. We estimate around £1 million.
8. Apollo (Alex Gray) – £800,000
Apollo played rugby for England Sevens, Newcastle, London Irish and Bath, and spent three years on the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad in the NFL. That’s a decade of professional sports salaries before Gladiators came calling. We estimate he’s worth around £800,000.
9. Fire (Montell Douglas) – £700,000
Fire is the first British woman to compete at both Summer and Winter Olympics, as a sprinter and then a bobsledder. She finished sixth on Strictly in 2024 and was a BBC pundit at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Sport plus telly puts her at around £700,000 on our estimate.
The “only” fit millionaires (well, not quite)
10. Steel (Zack George) – £500,000
Steel was crowned the UK’s fittest man in the 2020 CrossFit Open and has written a book, Start Where Others Stop. He’s a director of a string of fitness and property companies, though their accounts don’t show much in the way of net assets. We estimate around £500,000.
11. Fury (Jodie Ounsley) – £450,000
The first deaf woman to play for a senior England side, Fury has since turned author with a two-book deal for children, and has presented Paralympics coverage for Channel 4. Her personal company reported net assets of around £64,000. We estimate she’s worth around £450,000.
12. Athena (Karenjeet Kaur Bains) – £400,000
Athena is the first British Sikh woman to represent Great Britain at powerlifting and holds a Guinness World Record. Before Gladiators she spent six years as an auditor at KPMG, so she probably knows her own balance sheet better than we do. We estimate around £400,000.
13. Bionic (Matty Campbell) – £400,000
Bionic went from academy footballer to bodybuilder after a serious car crash, and has since popped up on Weakest Link and Comic Relief. A dislocated shoulder cut short his series three, but three series of arena fees plus fitness deals put him at around £400,000 on our estimate.
14. Comet (Ella-Mae Rayner) – £400,000
The former gymnast, diver and cheerleader has built a big TikTok following on top of her Gladiators fame. Her personal company reported net assets of around £92,000 in its latest accounts. Add brand partnerships and we estimate Comet is worth around £400,000.
15. Phantom (Toby Olubi) – £400,000
Phantom competed in the four-man bobsleigh for Team GB at the 2018 Winter Olympics, famously funding his training partly through game show winnings on The Cube and Deal or No Deal. Three series of Gladiators later, we estimate he’s worth around £400,000.
16. Viper (Quang Luong) – £400,000
Viper is a long-time bodybuilder and fitness model who has picked up acting roles along the way, including Sky’s Intergalactic and an uncredited part in the Bond film Die Another Day. Add pantomime and personal training, and we estimate he’s worth around £400,000.
17. Diamond (Livi Sheldon) – £350,000
The former Worcester City footballer turned bodybuilder runs her own fitness app, LivFitness, and has played in Soccer Aid. An ACL injury kept her out of most of series three, which won’t have helped. We estimate she’s worth around £350,000.
18. Electro (Jade Packer) – £300,000
Electro switched from sprinting to bodybuilding, earning her IFBB elite pro card, and now works as an online fitness coach. She’s one of the lower-profile Gladiators outside the arena, so we estimate she’s worth around £300,000, mostly from the show and coaching.
19. Sabre (Sheli McCoy) – £300,000
A Scottish weightlifting champion and record-holder, Sabre co-owns the Sweatbox gym in Dundee and won a BAFTA Scotland Audience Award in 2025. Gyms are a tough business (the company’s latest accounts show net liabilities), so we estimate she’s worth around £300,000, most of it from Gladiators.
20. Tabby Stoecker – £300,000
The newest recruit won Olympic gold in the mixed team skeleton at Milano Cortina in 2026, and is currently on Strictly Come Dancing (see our Strictly 2026 rich list). Her Gladiator name hasn’t been revealed yet. With Strictly and Gladiators fees incoming, we estimate around £300,000, and rising fast.
21. Dynamite (Emily Steel) – £250,000
The youngest Gladiator is a British weightlifting record-holder at under-23 level, and a BUCS champion. She’s still early in her career, so her net worth is mostly Gladiators fees and sponsorship. We estimate around £250,000, which is a lot more than most students her age.
22. Hammer (Tom Wilson) – £250,000
Hammer arrived in series two as a world indoor rowing silver medallist and personal trainer. He’s one of the newer Gladiators, with less time than the originals to cash in on arena fame and brand deals, so we estimate he’s worth around £250,000.
