Whilst Swansea University has its main library on Singleton campus, there are so many other options around the city for people looking to study. Libraries are a great place to work and have some peace and quiet, especially if you’re the type of person who gets easily distracted at home. So, whether you’re looking for a book to borrow or just wanting some quiet time, here are 6 public libraries to study at in Swansea.
1. Swansea Central Library

If you hadn’t guessed it, Swansea Central Library is right in the city centre, making it super convenient to get to. If you’re looking to study, then this is a great library, since there is wifi available for visitors with designated study areas as well! Other facilities they have include a photocopier, scanner, IT room, and a huge selection of print books and audio books! The actual library itself is such a gorgeous place to study in, with shelves going all the way round the circular room, it really is one of the prettiest public libraries in Swansea you can study in.

This Swansea library is a personal favourite of mine, and there’s so many reasons why. Although all libraries are quiet, this one is extra peaceful, with no road or cars nearby – you really can’t hear a thing. This library is also right next to the student village, so if you’re living in that area, it’s a super convenient place to go and study! The South Wales Miner’s Library is owned by Swansea University, but it’s open to anyone from the public, so you don’t have to be a student to use it. There’s a bunch of small study rooms and a computer area as well, with facilities including a printer and tonnes of books to read through.

Sketty library is a fantastic public library in Swansea. It’s not too far away from the city centre, and there are loads of busses that go to the area, making it super easy and convenient to get to. This library also has wifi, so it’s a great place to sit down and get some work done. There are a few facilities in this library, such as a photocopier, scanner, and computer for the public to use. As you can imagine, there is also loads of books available for you to borrow, so if you live nearby, head over there to check it out!

If you’re looking for a library with a community to join, then Killay Library might be the place for you! This library hosts a variety of events every week, such as a Scrabble group, reading group, knitting group, and a chess club as well! But, if you’re not interested in the clubs, then obviously this library has other facilities for you to use as well. There is wifi, a photocopier, a printer and scanner, which is probably everything you’re going to need if you’re studying. Although this library is a bit further out, it’s still a great one to visit if you happen to be in the area.

Another one of the best public libraries in Swansea to visit is Oystermouth Library in Mumbles. This library is right next to the sea, so it’s already in an ideal area for relaxing and to have quiet time. Although this library isn’t in the city centre, there are loads of busses that stop near it, so no matter where you are in Swansea, you’ll be able to get here pretty easily. Oystermouth Library also has every facility you could want from a library, such as a printer, photocopier, scanner, and wifi. And if you’re ever fed up of working, then the beach is right on your doorstep!

6. Fforestfach Library

Fforestfach library is a small but nice library to study in, and it’s definitely one of the quieter places on this list as well. There’s a huge selection of books to choose from, and it has all the facilities you can expect a library to have. There is parking outside, but this place is a little bit more difficult to get to on the bus, so it’s worth keeping that in mind if you don’t have a car.
