One thing that Huddersfield has in abundance is cafe’s. The high street is full of them, each one has their own unique atmosphere which gives you plenty to choose from. The cafes in Huddersfield are a popular hot spot for students to study in, whether alone or with friends.
So let’s look at some of the best rated cafes among students for studying:
1. Brewed
The Brewed cafe is a local favourite among students, whenever I walk past it you can always see a few uni students studying away in there. This is a perfect spot for a quick brunch and study session in between lectures and is less than a 10 minute walk from The University Queensgate Campus.
Personally, Brewed is a better spot for a solo trip, as it does have a smaller layout, however if you were wanting to go on a study date with one or two other people, Brewed could be a good shout.
The menu includes a unique set of food choices, including eggs benedict and french toast. I always see brewed as having slightly less conventional meal options, which I think adds to the appeal of the Cafe.
2. Three Beans Cafe
A hidden favourite in Huddersfield is Three Beans Cafe located down a side alley around 5 minutes away from campus. With its reasonably priced food options and regular events, this is a local favourite among students.
If you are wanting a bustling atmosphere to study in then this is the cafe, with a number of seasonal favourites on their menu for you to choose from and enjoy while you catch up on lecture notes or have a group meeting. This is the perfect place for a morning breakfast study session before lectures, due to its good breakfast menu options.
Three Beans Cafe has a number of different events running throughout the year, including arts and crafts sessions such as bracelet making. This is a great way to meet new people or hang out with friends. Students and locals can both agree that this is one of the best cafes in Huddersfield and is held as a firm favourite!
3. Kalm
A most recent addition to the cafe community of Huddersfield includes Kalm. This superfood cafe is building a reputation of being a relaxing place to unwind and escape the stress that uni life can bring, because let’s be honest uni is not always easy.

This place is building a reputation as a Health Cafe in Huddersfield, with its food options focusing on superfood and wellness. Some top picks from their menu includes their fruit bowls, and matcha latte’s. One thing I will say about Kalm is that the prices do seem to be a little more on the higher side than some of the other local favourites, so this may be a cafe better for a change of scenery once in a while but perhaps not your regular hot spot.
This cafe has a focus on creating a calming environment, so if you are wanting a chilled place to study or revise for an upcoming exam, then Kalm may be a good spot for you to hideout with a coffee. Kalm is perfect for a solo trip after a busy uni lecture, or for a uni free day where you still want to get some work done.
Campus Cafe’s
The University of Huddersfield has a number of great cafes scattered around its buildings, all of which all have slightly different food options. Some of these cafes are a great place to go for a good study session. I have gone to some of these alone and with friends and it works well for either. The staff are really friendly and helpful which is one of the things I love about the food outlets on campus.
If you only have a short break or live in one of the nearby student accommodations, then the cafes and food outlets on campus may be a popular spot for you! Students can get reasonably priced full English breakfasts and cooked lunch options throughout the week. There are always a variety of options that change daily, the menu can be found at each individual cafe or on social media under the name, Huddersfood.

These are just some of the cafes available for you to try out in Huddersfield. If there is one thing that Huddersfield is not short on, it is a good cafe! So if you come to The University of Huddersfield, be sure to explore one of the cafes that this Yorkshire town has on offer. With so many around, you are sure to find the best one for your go to study cafe!
