The podium

The three universities whose graduates consistently land the best jobs and earn the most 15 months after graduating.

Best cities for graduate career prospects (avg. score)

Career prospects at university are shaped long before graduation. The universities that produce the best-employed, highest-earning graduates are the ones with strong employer relationships, active placement programmes, and degrees that are genuinely valued in the job market. This ranking measures the outcomes, not the promises.

We ranked 122 UK universities using HESA graduate outcomes data — average salary and percentage in graduate-level employment 15 months after finishing — weighted alongside student satisfaction with the course.

How we rank

What goes into the score

Every metric is normalised to 0-100 before weighting. No data is hidden.

45%
Average Graduate Earnings
HESA data — average salary 15 months after graduation. The most direct financial measure of where a degree takes you. The range across universities is significant: from under £25,000 to over £57,000. Salary reflects both employer demand for graduates from that institution and the quality of careers support.
40%
Graduates in Employment
HESA data — percentage of graduates in graduate-level employment 15 months after finishing. Earnings without employment is an incomplete picture. This metric captures whether graduates are actually in jobs — not just whether those who found work are paid well.
15%
Student Satisfaction
From the National Student Survey. Satisfied students are more engaged, more likely to take advantage of placement opportunities, and more likely to build the professional networks that translate into better career outcomes. Satisfaction is a lead indicator for career success.
