With a recent rise in popularity of collectible figures like Smiskis, Mofusand, Labubus, and more, what better place to be trinket collecting than Brighton? Known for its famous Lanes and endless shopping opportunities, I’ve compiled the ultimate guide to trinket shops and other places to thrift to your heart’s content!

Location: 73 Trafalgar St, Brighton and Hove, BN1 4EB

Being just a short walk from the train station, Rawlab is a highly popular café serving Asian pastries and beverages. Additionally, they also stock some highly sought-after products, such as Labubus, Pokémon Cards (Graded, Slabs, and packs), Studio Ghibli figures, and more. Not only that, but the owner is also very open and friendly, often engaging in conversations with customers about potentially sourcing rarer items in overseas markets.

2. Kids Monster

Location: 75 Trafalgar St, Brighton and Hove, BN1 4EB

Located right next to Rawlab, this store, like many others on this list, is known for its super-cute items. With a wide variety of products from Japan, this is an excellent place to find gifts, toys, and souvenirs. Perfect for those who are big fans of anything Sanrio, Pokémon, Sonny Angels, or anime-related, there’s something for everyone! My favourite thing about this store is how frequently the stock is rotated. Almost every time I visit, there’s something new on the shelves, which keeps me going back!

3. Tokyo Monster

Location: 9 East St, Brighton and Hove, BN1 1HP

A sister location to Kids Monster, this store also sells very similar items to the previous two stores. However, it is a much larger store with a wider variety of products that you can’t find at the other two. With a large variety of authentic products that are often hard to find in the UK, you should certainly visit this store as an avid collector!

4. Miniso

Located within the Churchill Shopping Centre on the ground floor, this is a widely popular Chinese franchise that also stocks a variety of plushes, home products, makeup, and more. Known for its extensive range of Sanrio products, Miniso has attracted a large demographic of customers who shop primarily for any collaborations between the store and popular media. Known to be a popular place to purchase blind boxes, Miniso stocks products for Sanrio, Harry Potter, Care Bears, My Little Pony, and Stitch, to name a few! I can’t resist purchasing something every time I come to this store, as there are often new products each time, and you never know when the shelves will be rotated.

Make sure to also take advantage of their 10% student discount (this isn’t a widely known fact, but just ask at the till and show a valid student ID to claim!)

Don’t forget to use their 10% student discount. It’s not widely advertised or known, but just ask at the till and show your student card to claim it!

5. BubblePop

Location: Unit 2, 42 South St, Bond St, Brighton and Hove, BN1 1RD

A short walk away from Churchill Square near the start of the Lanes, lies the next stop, Bubble Pop sells a wide variety of Japanese collectible toys, stationery, gifts, and more! I enjoy visiting this store as the prices are often cheaper than other locations within Brighton, and the products are quite different. For example, you are more likely to find keychains, bag charms, and FunkoPops in this store or trading cards.

6. Daisy Daisy

Location: 6 Gardner St, Brighton and Hove, BN11 1UP

Daisy Daisy is a family-run business that sells a carefully curated selection of toys for young children. However, this store is also widely popular for its small section of Jellycats. As one of the few stores in Brighton to stock Jellycats, you wouldn’t want to miss this! They often stock the newest arrivals as well as the Jellycat bags and bag charms.

7. DOWSE

This recently opened store is great for those who are obsessed with any sort of jewellery or accessory. With floor-to-ceiling height shelves, there is bound to be something for everybody; all you need is patience! Additionally, the items found here are quite trendy and unique, and might be similar to those seen in London Markets.

9. Gashapon Bandai

Gashapon is a store full of miniature capsule collectables in small vending machines that require tokens and luck! Each machine shows the products inside, and once you insert the required tokens, a random gacha ball drops. The store also has a fun, unique space at the back of the store used to host card tournaments and casual gaming, which you can book through their website.

10. Junior Edition

This is another store that primarily sells children’s toys; however, it also stocks quite a lot of novelty items! For instance, popular blind boxes such as Smiskis, Mofusand Hippers, Sonny Angels, and more. Not to mention, this store also stocks official Miffy products alongside some Sanrio items, proving to have a wide collection in such a small store.

Located down by the beach with the sea on its doorstep, this store is perfect for finding everything you need, offering a cute and whimsical selection. With jewellery, clothing, plushes, and character merchandise, there is bound to be something for everyone. This store also sells popular goods such as Sanrio, Anime merch, San-X, and more, and I would highly recommend checking this store out!

12. The Lola store

Location: 96 Kings Road Arches, Brighton and Hove, BN1 2FN

Just a short walk down from the previous store lies such a hidden gem, similar to DOWSE, where you can find a lot of trendy homeware items. However, this differs as it also stocks some fashionable accessories and clothing pieces. Be sure to check out their latest arrivals as well!

13. Forbidden Planet
