We’re just about to enter the last month of the year, meaning that it’ll soon be holiday season. If you’re a student and maybe, for one reason or another, happen to be spending the holidays in your accommodation or just want to ring in the holiday season early before winter break, decorating your accommodation to get into the Christmas spirit might just be the fun chore to do. But with prices soaring and the need to ensure no damage to your student house, it’s understandable if your next question is now how to decorate your student house for Christmas. Hopefully, after reading these five ways you can decorate your home, you’ll be able to deck the halls (literally) on a budget.

1. Lights, lights and even more lights

One simple way to decorate your student house for this upcoming Christmas is by hanging fairy lights or multi-coloured lights. For just under £20, students can purchase a pack of fairy lights online or in your local home store along with some damage-free hooks from your local B&M. The end result should be your home emulating the lit up high streets during the holiday season.

2. DIY snowflakes

If you’re up to task and would like to spend as little as possible decorating your student home, making your own snowflake decorations could be for you. Using some paper and scissors, follow a tutorial either on TikTok or YouTube on how to make paper snowflakes. To hang your frosty decorations, string your snowflakes together with yarn and tape them on top of your ceiling.

3. Christmas song Vinyls

A simple yet subtle nod to the Christmas holidays to reign in the Christmas season could be by stacking together a vinyl collection of some of your favourite Christmas songs. Whether you love timeless hits such as Mariah’s All I Want for Christmas or Wham’s Last Christmas or prefer a newer Christmas tune, there’s likely a vinyl out there of your favourite Christmas song, album or EP.

4. A Christmas Tree

Nothing screams Christmas quite like a Christmas tree, it’s probably the first thing you thought of before reading this article. This could be a miniature tree by your desk or your standard sized tree in your room. The best part is you can have it whatever way you like. Choose the colour, decorations and ornament on top.

5. Decorate your front door

Yes, even your door could use some Christmas decor. With the help of a TikTok tutorial, your door could end up looking like a present waiting to be wrapped. Buying a holiday-themed welcome mat is also an option, with affordable mats being available at Argos, Next, Amazon and other retailers.
