It might be that you need an urgent check-up and it’s out of hours, or you’ve suffered a minor injury that doesn’t require an A&E trip. That’s where NHS Walk-In services come in. They provide medical care for non-essential injuries and problems, with no appointments required. So, that’s why our guide to NHS Walk-Ins in Nottingham is here to help all students living in the city.

NHS Urgent Treatment Centre

This is the main NHS Walk-Ins in Nottingham. Located in Seaton House, it’s within the city centre, so it’s relatively quick and straightforward to get there. But, something to bear in mind is that there aren’t many direct transport links near the building itself. If you’re coming from the UON side of Nottingham, your best bet is to get the tram to Nottingham station and then walk the 10 minutes to Seaton House. If you’re in the city centre, it may be easier to just walk there anyway. Which, if you’ve got a foot injury, may not be great. Trust me, I know from experience.

Queens Medical Centre

If you’re a medical student at the University of Nottingham, you’ll know the QMC very well. While the QMC may be a teaching site, it’s also one of the largest hospitals in the country. It has a walk-in unit, which is perfect if you happen to injure yourself on campus, you don’t have to go far. But, something to bear in mind is that this is for serious injuries only. If your problem is only minor, then you might have to travel a little longer to get the help you need.

Ilkeston Community Hospital

This might be a little way out, but it’s perfect if you’re commuting to uni from the northwest of Nottingham. Ilkeston Community Hospital, while it has a Derbyshire postcode, is only about 30 minutes from both the city centre and the Uni Of campuses. Open from 8 am to 8 pm every day, the Ilkeston Community Hospital provides a walk-in service for all problems and can direct you to different places if and as needed.

Newark Hospital

Like the Ilkeston Community Hospital, Newark Hospital is a little out of the way of the more prominent student areas of Nottingham. But, again, if your accommodation is a little further out, then this may be the option for you. It’s open from 9 am to 10 pm every day. The hospital has a number of different departments that provide some of the best quality treatment, no matter what your ailment might be.
