If you’re anything like me, you’ve been planning Halloween costumes since November 1st last year. There’s nothing better than a lineup of events where you can finally show off those carefully thought-out outfits. And if, again, just like me, you’re indecisive and have narrowed your selection down to five costumes (yes, five. How am I supposed to pick between Wanda Maximoff and Snoopy?!), then multiple nights out are a must. Luckily, Sheffield has no shortage of events to celebrate this spooky season, and I’ve rounded up the best ones so you can flaunt your outfits across the city.
1. Zombieland Halloween Sheffield Bar Crawl
Date: October 31st 2025
This is Sheffield’s biggest student bar crawl with more than five venues, including stops at Walkabout and (later) The Network for the official rave. Venues and routes are typically announced closer to the date, so keep an eye on the event listing. The tickets are around £4-£8, and this includes entry to all venues, free zombie shots, exclusive access to giveaways, and a face-paint station for those who really want to nail the zombie look.
2. The Living Dead Crawl
Date: October 31st 2025
Another crawl, just as spooky, but this time, access to eight venues across Sheffield. This route starts at Molly Malone’s, and ends at CNTRL. This event is packed and brings in thousands of students, all costumed up, ready for the cameras, as professional photographers are there to capture every moment. As someone who’s been caught on these cameras with friends on a night out and seen them on Facebook the next morning, it’s always a good laugh. Organised Chaos has said, ‘costumes are essential, go big or stay buried!’
3. Bongos Bingo
- Location: The Octagon Centre
- Date: October 25th and 30th
I live for Bingo, anyone who says it’s for older people clearly hasn’t felt the thrill of winning a bag of sweets because you got a full house. It is so fun! At Bongos Bingo, it’s not like your usual game. There are dance-offs, rave intervals, audience participation, and for Halloween, and Halloween only, it’s creepy. The Carnevil, as they’re calling it, is expected to be creepy, freaky, and everything in between. Costumes are advised, energy is needed, and prepare for terrifying twists!
4. Halloween Night Market
- Location: The Streamworks
- Date: October 30th, 5pm – 10pm
If you’re not really into clubbing, or you want a bit of variety in your Halloween antics, then the Halloween Night Market is for you. At this market there are over 40 local businesses and artisans, with street food vendours, cocktails, local beers, and music. This event is affordable with a £3 entry fee, and it’s a good way to support independent, local businesses, whilst keeping in the Halloween spirit. And don’t worry, you can still dress up, as costumes are highly encouraged!
5. Leadmill Fridays Halloween Special
Location: The Foundry
Leadmill Fridays are iconic among students in Sheffield, and you have to experience at least one during your time here. Split across two rooms, you’ll find Chart, House, and R&B in Room 1 and Non-Stop Indie Pop in Room 2. It’s located at the University of Sheffield’s student union, so expect lots of students and lots of chaos, at what is ‘guaranteed to be’ the biggest Halloween party in the city. Costumes are basically mandatory, so get creative and get spooky!
Aside from all of these great events, there are plenty of club nights to go to if you just want to dress up and have a dance without having to switch venues or shout bingo. Here’s a quick list of clubs that are having Halloween parties:

Expect big student club nights with spooky themes, costume parties, horror film marathons, pumpkin trails, ghost walks, and pop-up immersive experiences. Many venues run Halloween week events so you can plan more than one night out.
Yes. Student-focused clubs typically host costume parties with prizes, themed décor, and chart, dance, or indie rooms. Look out for midweek student specials leading up to the 31st, with discounted entry and drinks when you arrive early in costume.
Try horror movie screenings, escape rooms with spooky themes, pumpkin picking near the city, ghost tours, or board-game cafés running Halloween specials. Many student societies also hold sober craft nights or bake-offs with a spooky twist.
Book tickets early for cheaper tiers, use student nights, and split group tickets. DIY your costume from charity shop finds, pre-drink at home (responsibly), and choose events with free photo booths or prize draws so you get more value from the night.
Pick one big night and one low-key activity to balance costs and energy. Decide costumes in advance, buy tickets together, and sort taxis or last-train times. If you’re new to the city, stick to well-lit routes and meet at central landmarks to move between venues safely.
