Getting around: most of the city centre is walkable, and every bus single in Merseyside is capped at £2. Merseyrail trains are handy for the beaches and the Wirral.

Money tips
1
Use the £2 bus fare
Any single bus journey in Merseyside costs £2, whichever operator you use. Merseyrail is great for trips to the beach.
2
Do the free stuff
Tate Liverpool, the Walker Art Gallery, the World Museum, the Maritime Museum and the Museum of Liverpool are all free.
3
Go out midweek
Wednesday is the big student night, with cheap entry and drinks deals across town.
4
Get to the beach for the price of a train
Formby and Crosby beaches are a short Merseyrail ride away, and cost nothing once you're there.
5
Check what's included
Many Smithdown and Kensington houses quote rent without bills. Ask what's included and budget about £20 a week extra if bills aren't.
“Liverpool has a party reputation and it does not disappoint.”
