Overview

Is Norwich University of the Arts right for you?

Norwich University of the Arts is a small, specialist creative university in the middle of one of England's most attractive small cities. Its buildings sit around St Georges Street and the river in the medieval centre, so studios, the library and the Students' Union are all a short walk apart. Everyone studies something creative, from fine art and fashion to games, animation and architecture.

With under 3,000 students, it's intimate rather than buzzing, and if you want a huge range of societies or a big sports scene, it'll feel limited. But Norwich is friendly, affordable by southern standards and full of galleries and gig venues, and the halls are mostly close to campus.

Student life

What student life is like in Norwich

Life is centred on the city-centre campus. The Students' Union is based in the Duke Street building alongside the library. It funds and supports all clubs and societies, from sports to gaming and cultural groups, runs events and publishes Storehouse, a student-designed magazine. Because the university is small, a lot of the social life happens around studios and course communities. Norwich itself is a big part of the appeal, with its lanes, market, independent shops, galleries like the Sainsbury Centre, live music venues and festivals.

Highlights

  • Students' Union in the Duke Street building, which also houses the library
  • Storehouse, the Union's twice-yearly magazine designed by students
  • East Gallery, the university's public gallery
  • The Norwich Lanes, Norwich Market and independent shops on your doorstep
  • The Norfolk and Norwich Festival and the city's year-round arts calendar
  • Riverside walks and parks a few steps from campus
