Where it ranks in the Unifresher Rankings 2027, what it’s really like to study there, and what halls and living costs look like.
Leeds Arts University is small and specialist: just over 2,000 students, all studying art, design, music or other creative subjects. Degree courses are taught at Blenheim Walk, at the top of Woodhouse Lane opposite the University of Leeds. That puts you in one of the UK's busiest student cities while studying somewhere where staff can actually learn your name.
The university doesn't own halls. Instead, it works with two private providers, Carr Mills and The Leather Works, both 15–20 minutes' walk away. First years are guaranteed a place there if they book by the May deadline. If you want a creative-focused community with a big city around it, it's a great fit.

Leeds Arts Union runs events, campaigns and the student magazine, and supports student-led societies and a programme of sport and fitness activities. Because it's a specialist arts union, a lot of what's on offer is creative, with chances to collaborate with students on other courses. Blenheim Walk sits next to the University of Leeds and Hyde Park, so you're in the middle of the city's main student area, with the city centre a walk or short bus ride away.
University halls cost £129–£193 per week (2026 prices, 44-week contracts, bills included) (2026/27 prices).
First-year accommodation guarantee
Leeds Arts University guarantees all first-year students a place at Carr Mills or The Leather Works, as long as you firmly accept your place and complete the provider's booking process by 15 May 2026 (for 2026 entry). Room type and location depend on availability when you book, and rooms can be reallocated if you miss the deadline. After you accept your place, Admissions sends you an Accommodation Request Form. Your tenancy contract is with the provider, not the university.

Top tip
Book early. Once you firmly accept your place, fill in the Accommodation Request Form straight away and finish the provider's booking by mid-May to keep your guarantee. Booking through the university gets you a preferential rate. Read the tenancy's cancellation terms carefully with your guarantor, since the contract is with the provider.
Partner accommodation costs £129–£193 a week for 2026, with bills included, on a 44-week contract. Most rooms are around £150 a week. On top of that, budget for food and travel, plus creative materials: students report spending £50–£500 a year depending on the year of study. There's a £400–£700 a year cash bursary for lower-income students.
Getting around
