Overview

Is the University of Strathclyde right for you?

Strathclyde is a technological university right in the centre of Glasgow, a few minutes' walk from George Square, Buchanan Street and the city's main stations. It's especially strong in engineering, science and business, and its halls are in the Campus Village, so you're on campus from day one.

It's also good value. On-campus halls cost £133–£182 a week for 2026/27, with bills, wifi and gym membership included. The catch is that first-year halls aren't guaranteed: places are limited, so apply early. Glasgow is a big, friendly student city with plenty of music, nightlife and culture.

Accommodation

Halls and where to live at the University of Strathclyde

University halls cost £133.49–£182.00 per week (2026/27 undergraduate rooms, 39-week contracts, bills included) (2026/27 prices).

First-year accommodation guarantee

Strathclyde doesn't guarantee halls for new undergraduates. Under its 2026/27 allocation policy, first-year students who apply by the deadline (26 June 2026 for September 2026 entry, with offer conditions met by 13 August) "will be considered for an offer of accommodation", which could be university-owned or third-party. The university warns that if demand exceeds supply, some on-time applicants may not be offered a room. Care-experienced and estranged students, under-18s and students with medical requirements are prioritised; other applications are processed in date order.

Top tip

Apply as soon as applications open (16 March in 2026); you don't need to wait for an unconditional offer.
