Overview

Is the University of Westminster right for you?

Westminster is a big, diverse university with most of its campuses in the heart of London, around Regent Street, Fitzrovia and Marylebone, plus a larger campus in Harrow, north-west London. It has a long history as London's first polytechnic and is known for media, arts and design, architecture, business and law.

The central location is a huge draw, but London costs are real. University halls cost about £198–£324 a week for 2026/27, and none are in central London: they're in Hoxton, Harrow, Wembley and Tottenham Hale, so expect a Tube or bus commute. You'll need to budget hard, but you'll be studying in the middle of one of the world's great cities.

Think twice if…

  • You want to live next to campus: halls are in Hoxton, Harrow, Wembley and Tottenham Hale
  • You want a traditional campus with a strong on-site community
  • You want a guaranteed room: halls are allocated under the university's allocation policy, and Marylebone Hall is closed for refurbishment until at least 2027
  • You want catered halls: all Westminster halls are self-catered
